second opinion

IN my film class today we watched this documentary where these guys started following this up and coming ny firefighter and they wound up capturing the events of 9/11 unfold on there video camera.

After seeing this amature footage i quickly thought of cloverfeild. the way the movie was shot was almost identicle. like there were people allover taking pictures with cameraphones and would the camera would just miss something important.

Basically im just saying i think think the way cloverfeild was directed was dead on in capturing what would happen in a similar event.

i saw that doc awhile back. If its the same one im thinking of, it was hosted by Robert DeNiro when i saw it. It was shown on CBS ,if my memory serves me right, about two weeks or so after 9/11. Think it was called Witness to 9/11 or something like that. That was one of the eeriest things ive ever seen, didnt seem real almost, even tho i knew it was. The worst part is when theyre in the lobby and you keep hearing the crashing sound, and then you realize its the bodies of the people jumping as theyre hitting the roof of the lobby. Man, i dont tear up often, but i was bawling like a baby watching that. so f'd up that had to happen

It was called simply enough "9/11"
I think they were two French filmmakers.
If its the one Im thinking of They were in the Lower Promenade when the first tower came down.
Very intense footage

yep superfuzz and sayian king thats the video.

people were like no one would stop and take pictures of the sol's head. in the documentary people were stopping in the middle of the street to take pics of the plane parts.

critics should take the movie for what it is (a surreal representation of what would happen if a random person caught a monster attack or any other kind of attack on film) and not what they want it to be (a pure monster movie)

cloverfield is going to be my first special edition dvd since Scarface which i bought back in like 1998 when we got our dvd player

you do realize that Cloverfield was made that way on purpose right? I mean the producer basically said that they'd intended to create that feeling by making it that way.

Yeah, IIRC, J.J. Abrams specifically mentioned those types of 9/11 videos as inspiration in interview(s).
