Well, since the honey was sent overnight I figure a response to your letter would be sent overnight as well... But what do I know.

Don't forget that this letter theoretically has to be forwarded all the way to China before Dana even gets it. (Hey, how much postage did you put on it, anyway? Mr. Green )

Gah! That might be a problem. Just a 37 cent Dr. Seuss Stamp. If it needs to go to China, it'll probably be returned due to insufficient postage.

Well, we'll just have to see.

If I were to SPECulate: I doubt Dana would even have bothered putting a forward on her mailbox before she left. She sounded like she planned to travel around a lot, so she might not even have an appropriate forwarding address. More likely the box -- just like her voicemail -- will simply get full. I don't think the Post Office will even bother to return the letter to you, since it will have been successfully delivered to her mailbox.

(And in the Real World(tm), the PMs will probably just leave it there, although it certainly would be incredibly nifty if they could somehow convince the Post Office to pretend to try to forward it to China, and return it to you for insufficient postage or something like that.)

Shad0 and bellebet, you are assuming it would be Dana who opened the letter... what about Aunt M! She's upset about the website, but she may still check her mail, right? Especially for "the business"! (I would!) So, I don't think it's automatically a wasted effort. I still think you're going to see some results there... really.

And for your efforts: A Pony!!! Pony?!

A most excellent point! In fact, the address we have is for "Margaret's House of Bees," not Dana. On the other hand, I'm not sure that Margaret is the sort of woman who would be inclined to open mail addressed to her niece...

...which brings up another possible tactic: sending mail to that address addressed to Margaret! (That address, by the way, is Margaret's House of Bees, 2370 Market Street #510, San Francisco, California 94114-1575, for anyone who doesn't have it handy.)

Caveat: Dana did not tell Aunt Margaret about what was really going on with her web site. I think this was wise, but even if I didn't, I don't think it is our place to disabuse her. Margaret thinks that there is a widespread hotmail glitch. I wouldn't advise sending her anything suggesting that an Artificial Intelligence has taken over the computer.

I also doubt that Margaret knows how to get in touch with Dana any more than we do. Based on Dana's new voice mail message, even her own mother (Chloe) can't get in touch with her -- otherwise why would she call Dana's machine just to hear the sound of her voice? Still, there may be plenty of reasons why contact with Margaret would be beneficial.

Or someone could give margret a major case of the heebe jeebies (Her words, not mine Razz) and she takes an axe to her server or pulls the plug. Might be something to be done with a controlled amount of information in the letter.

interesting idea, but what would we send her? a postcard? a simple little card? we can't even ask for honey since she says she has none.

a get well bee card? we could always wish for her happy bees to come back healthy and strong. but maybe that's just too weird. i think if we would write her a letter we should all come up with something to say.

(oh and hi! )

A group letter could work, but it would be hard to say who its from with out potentialy freaking AM out more than we should. However, if AM got Dana the ticket to Asia, then she might be the onlyone that can tell us where Dana could be....

What about this: Why don't we send a letter to Aunt Margaret, explaining that a new friend Dana met through this whole hotmail thing, (who doesn't speak english well) wants to get in touch with Dana and doesn't know how to get a hold of her, and can she help? Does she know of an address where we can send mail, or an email or something she regularly checks?

What do you think? It's worth a shot, right?

yeah, it would be best if our conglomeration would be seen as a single entitiy, Even if nothing came from it, it would be an amusing thing to do. Dunno what we'd get out of it but it's an interesting touch to try and become more friendly with aunt m if possible.

email friend who barely speaks english? sounds like a decent idea. we could just say that we'd want to know if somehow she'd be talking to dana during her "vacation" or whatever.

something. it's a start at least.

So, lets get started. Were a new friend of Dana's. I think we can't pretend to know shes not in asia, because to get the adress in the first place we'd have to read the website which would of sent us to the blog. Unless AM hasn't been reading her own web page. (Doubtfull)

So, I say somone should make a few sugestions for how to go about this, and then we post versions of the letter untill we can generaly agree that its what we want it to be, and then we mail it to AM.
