[MISSIONS] Training labyrinth in Madrid
Just a test for drawing the labyrinth

Well, so I got some string, a lot of stones, and... 10 chopsticks! And this is the result after about one hour:
album

Then, I got the nearest Thumos around and made him walk the labyrinth... it went quite well, although we had just 3 walls for the training. We tested the humming thing, and just had to walk along the runner all along the walls, but I guess 3 is the real minimum for the walls. Of course, this was just a training, nothing else, but we had some fun. And, of course... we have a video!

We didn't think it would be heard, but I guess the phonecam did record the "humming" too. And, before you ask, yes, we had to put something at the end of the labyrinth so our Thumos would concentrate Razz And this time the coke is no lie Razz

Amazing you did it with just 3 walls!

Now I feel motivated to build my own training labyrinth and walk it enough that I can do it blindfolded with no walls..

Great job! It sort of looks like it might be easier with fewer walls.

Excellent! Although I guess it's harder than I thought--I was imagining people actually running around the ring, but I doubt that's possible. Are those the right dimensions? Awfully tight!

I also can't imagine doing this in a public place without A LOT of stares. With that humming, it makes you all look part of some odd religious cult.

Maybe there should be a place on the wiki with links to various people's training videos?

Yes, I think the dimensions were quite accurate: the corridors are just 2ft wide, and that's about 60 cm. So no running yet, I guess.

About the stares... we were lucky there was not many people around, just another group sitting nearby in the grass... but we were quite near the windows of some classrooms, I hope noone thinks weird things about us! But you're right, it's all a bit... sectarian Razz A friend compared us with the black spiral dancers (you rpgamers know for sure what I mean), but we didn't summon anything... yet. Not even cthulhu Razz

By the way, a suggestion for the future training sessions: for your first tries, use fewer walls and make the walls follow the runner while humming. That way everyone gets a feel for the labyrinth's paths, and being less crowded can help the runner feeling less claustrophobic. We were lucky in that aspect: our Thumos was quite sure of himself all the time around, and was able to walk quite firmly.

Anyway, doing this was quite funny, so I guess we'll be trying again soon, and surely with some more people involved. Maybe next time I'll even time the event, to see how long does it take our first runner to do the training circuit. We must prepare for the synchro!

Having only a few people made it far less chaotic than the one run by Melody and theBruce. It might be useful to train a smaller group first, or break out into small groups to run simultaneously. Then when the groups merge, the walls have a better idea of what they need to do. Potentially, it also means that if you add new folks incrementally (they show up late, or you have a 2nd, 3rd event), they will have clearer examples.

definitely, it's not just the runners that need training - the walls have an active job to perform as well, moreso the fewer walls there are...

I want to stress the importance of the runner doing a few practice walks/runs without walls first - build up the muscle memory of the circuit. Try with eyes closed a couple of times (peeking when necessary)... it's only chaotic really when the runners have to 'feel' their way around the circuit.
