Question: Is this link part of the animation? Pardon me if I'm being dunderheaded here, but I can get to the page you mention through the link you posted, but I don't see how to get to it from the main page.

Thanks.

EDIT: Or is that what you meant about the main page changing (to not include the link)?

Edit to cite contributor quoted.

it changed, and the link disappeared, the page i mentioned was the old page with a link in black text on the bottom "BOOTUP", but soon after it changed to the animation homepage that's now there, w/o the link

Meant to say, "Thank you." Also wanted to report that emails to AgentsSPLATtheskyremains.com still come back with the auto-reply that they are still picking out carpet and to check back in April. I'm assuming from that and the fact that the bootup link disappeared that we are still awaiting the game start. I did try some adding some of the letter/number sequences that stream out of the satellite image to the URL, but that didn't seem to do much. Figured it was worth a shot, though.

Can anyone recommend a good BlueTooth or SD Card GPS for the IPaq h4150?

Actually, have you clicked on the link for the mscape website that is mentioned on the FAQ page for theskyremains.com? They've got a bunch of recommendations over there, and I *think* it included GPS cards.

Of course, I may be wrong. I was really only looking over there and dreaming of getting myself an iPaq so that I could participate in that part of the game as it sounded terribly fun...sigh...

Thanks PiedPiper I saw those, but those are the damned expensive GPS Smile was looking for a cheap n cheerful, but it's ok, I've managed to source one from Amazon and it's winging it's way to me now.

Nitefoil, what did you get from Amazon? I'm still in my "research" phase for these GPS thingies.

As a matter of fact, what devices do all of you have?

I'm relying on those with GPS obviously.

I wonder when my phone contract is up....as I am buying a phone with everything. I'll probably buy a Blackberry-like phone with a camera and GPS. I deserve a tricked out phone to get me through law school (in the year after next). I'm hoping to get one that will work with the mscape program so if there's another MeiGeist after this one then I'll be able to play. I call them all MeiGeist...LMAO. This one is MeiGeist4, well on my email folder anyway.

Anyways any theories on what the storyline will be. Are Pat and Dave involved I forgot to ask? They're made of win!

I tried typing in

http://www.theskyremains.com/profiles/mark

and it seems like that will be a page. Currently there is a 404 on it.

Unfortunately, I don't think that the result you're getting does indicate that this will be a page. I've gotten what I assume is the same result after typing in numerous suffixes for the main URL; all of my attempts have resulted in a page with the trademark tree logo and the 404 on it, alas. If anyone wants a list of some of the suffixes I've tried, I'll provide it, but I'm assuming that it probably wouldn't prove that useful.

Edited for minor grammar.

Here, here!

Actually, since this could prove to be some pretty useful information for all of us, is it possible to start a new thread on this? (Since we're still at trailhead stage, I wasn't sure.) In addition, could everyone provide their opinions of the equipment they have once they've used it a bit so that the rest of us can benefit from your experience?

I realize that there are reviews out there and all of that, but I think opinions based on the particular aspects used in this game would be more to the point, especially since the creators' intent is for us to include our own cases after the initial one ends.

Family Tree and Bootup page
Ruminating

I was taking another look at the screenies you pulled, Russell_k, as there was something that struck me when I first looked at it, but it's only just now that I've been able to fully suss it out.

Obviously, the family tree does look something like a chemical compound diagram, but then I noticed that the child branch appears above the mother and father branches, while the grandchildren appear below them. In addition, all of the branches with names on them occur "below the ground" with respect to the tree.

Maybe it is because it is supposed to be a two-dimensional representation of a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th-dimensional figure or concept. And maybe this isn't at all significant. But I just thought I'd mention it.

EDIT: I also noticed that on the bootup page that lostgunslinger2 found a link to which has since disappeared from the main page (http://www.theskyremains.com/bootup.html), it looks like there is some kind of writing on the grey part of the oscilloscope or whatever it is supposed to be. May just be wishful thinking, though.

Hmm...am I champing at the bit? Rolling Eyes

Talked to a few friends and read several reviews and eventually settled for this one: http://tinyurl.com/36fmpo

Meh I just tried it twice.
