Much love to you, dear, thank you.

Also, yours seems like spam to me. It's just as choppy as Illidan's.

I've got the same spam as Illy. Perhaps it's really spam - nothing mysterious there.

And - Happy Birthday, anonymousloli Smile

Now, yes, it looks like spam at first glance, but it's weird. Didn't come in my spambox, but my inbox (and i have a good spam catcher)
1. It's written in good quality grammar / english
2. With the exception of one tiny line, it's all completely correct, true, and not spam-ish
3. The email address is pupatedSPLATsteamboatvilla.com Pupated is a weird name for an email address (kinda cool though!), but www.steamboatvilla.com is a real site for some sort of resort/lodge. Also, the contact email for steamboatvilla is not @steamboatvilla.com

Militant Fighting Spreads Across Southern Iraq

Despite Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's warning Wednesday to Shiite gunmen, they continue to battle Iraqi forces in Basra and other southern cities Thursday. The Baghdad neighborhood of Sadr City is also the scene of sporadic fighting.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's spam. http://spamigot.com/Spam/After_Effects_CS3_Pr__36937.html

Ok so I wake up this morning to find an email in my account 'confirming' my recent ad on gumtree.com so I'm like ok wtf?

I check it and see the following:

Quote:
You have made a posting to Gumtree.com. Thanks!

Your ad titled "Free accomidadation for fun girl" in "Room share offered: north London" will be live on the site shortly (please be patient it can take up to 4 hours).

Your ad can be viewed at: http://www.gumtree.com/cgi-bin/show_posting.pl?posting_id=22320135

Now gumtree.com is a real site but the thing is... *I* Didn't sign up for it. I click the link and see the ad which says:

Date: Friday 4th April

Date available: 04/04

We are a shared house with 5 international guys looking for entertainment and fun. Free accomidation to the right girl. No bad intentions just fun all around. We are Australian, South African, Italian and Pakistan. Love to drink and party... Smile

And the pic I posted below is in the email.

I've tried checking it for stegs or whatnot but couldn't find anything now it could just have been someone trying to be funny on here *as this is the ONLY place I use this email* or someone trying to be malicious but I don't think so because of a couple of reasons.

1: They made sure to have the bit checked which says "Do NOT Contact me offering services or anything of a commercial nature" - If someone wanted to be malicious or stupid they would have wanted me spammed.

2: They didn't put "Leyton Stone" as the first and last name; they put an actual name (Don't know if anyone would have seen it before?) "Brendon Whalan"

But yeah that's all I got.

blog comment

This is a blog comment rather than an email, but it bears the same question of whether or not it's spam so I thought I'd post it here in this thread.

This blog is one I rarely update, so it mainly attracts spam, maybe 2 or 3 per day. As such, I have it set to moderate all comments -- almost all of which are spam.

Caught this in the filter today:

Quote:
<strong>Christine Marcinkowski...</strong>

Several years ago I fell in love with the most amazing person that the universe has ever known. I forced her out of my life and this is my attempt to set right what went wrong. Please publish this link and help me locate her, for love....

The name entered for the comment was Christine Marcinkowski, and their IP address identifies it as originating from Midcontinent Media, Inc.

The URL entered by the commenter (which I presume is the link in question) is here:

http://i-love-christine-marcinkowski.netfirms.com/

The whole "help me find a missing person" sort of suggests ARG, but if so, the whole vibe feels kind of pathetic/creepy. If it's spam, I don't know what to make of it. In terms of things that this might be advertising, there's netfirms.com, where it's hosted, and http://www.powerpagematrix.com/ (home based business crap), where the contact form is originating from (it's embedded in an iframe). Also, the logo on the photos seems to refer to napkinnights.com, and there's a mention of TrekAmerica.com as well.

So what do you think? I'm leaning toward spam, but as such I still don't really get what it's selling. As such, I thought it worth posting at least.

Any thoughts?

Wow.. that is certainly interesting. I have heard of guys that posted marriage proposals on freeway billboards so I guess this is the information superhighway version.

I am not sure if I would call it SPAM and after reading the netfirms page I am a little sympathetic to the guy's cause. I think I will drop him a couple of article links just for kicks.

That's... kinda... creepy.

All I can say about those pictures... If we manage to find the blonde instead, can I keep her? Smile
