Slice's mom's note.

I was fiddling on slice's blog, and discovered that not only is there the picture of the note she posted, but there is also a super huge version (1.7MB)
It occurs to me that perhaps there's something in the larger resolution one to find, but blowed if I can.
Anyway, it's here if anyone else fancies a search.

Enjoy!

I also noticed this larger image Wukka the other day and did a quick look to see if I could find anything of note. Didn't see anything, apart from a couple of the words are mis-written like 'write' and 'police' seem to have a weird 'e' characters, as does the 'l' in 'yourself'. Couldn't find anything else in the image itself though.

fairy tale

They look pretty much like "e" s to me. Just some one's hand writing I think. Has anyone had any luck in any combination of selections for the fairy tale?
I was also wondering if the Eastern European Girl "Daisy Hill" is going to make a reappearance?

SliceQueen

It would seem consistent for Lisa 'SliceQueen' to be associated with the Queen of Swords in the Tarot imagery.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_of_Swords

I've updated the wiki accordingly.

Ed. For those unfamiliar with Tarot (as was I until a brief wikipedia-session), this character is one of the Minor Arcana or Court cards, four sets of 14 cards (including a 'Knight' in addition to Ace - King as per 'normal' playing cards) of the suits Wands, Coins, Swords, Cups, which correspond to Fire, Earth, Air and Water respectively.

I like T@rot and tend to dabble myself.

A book I use to analyse my cards [called T@rot Made Easy by Nancy Garen - sounds a naff title but for anyone interested its great in understanding the cards and their meanings] describes a person associated with the card Queen of Swords as:

'mental, scientifically minded, objective, factual, ingenious, perfectionist, discriminating, independent and cold.'

Their chosen vocation is:
'Scientist, secretary, analyst, researcher, editor, computer programmer, astrologer, numerologist'.

It denotes a person of Virgo-like temperament.

Any of the Court Arcana cards [King, Queen and Knight] are very important as they are linked to specific astrological signs. They represent people and their specific personalities.

This is exciting :)

New email from WTS:

Quote:
Hello from We Tell Stories!

A slightly earlier email this week, so that you can set your alarm for
6.30pm Monday night for our next special tale...

YOUR PLACE AND MINE by Nicci French

In this week's chapter, Your Place and Mine, bestselling authors Nicci
French perform a high-wire act of storytelling. For an hour, every
night (Mon 7th-Fri 11th 6.30-7.30pm) they will write the story of
Laurence and Terry - and you can witness the story being created, live
and in realtime. Watch the story develop, see the words as they are
typed, and discuss the story in our chatroom as it's being written.

See you on Monday, 6.30pm: http://wetellstories.co.uk/stories/week4/about

Re: Practicality

Hallo.

I'm intrigued by phoenixjez's IG prod to look for Mary Jane. I'm poking around at the MJ diary entries again, trying to see if anything stands out at me. (Honestly, I'm abysmal at solving puzzles, and this is the first ARG I've followed from the beginning, but I do very much enjoy watching them played by other people and thinking "duh!" to myself.) I know that we sort of agreed that there's nothing going on with those diary dates (the argument that they were lacking a 2007 diary and bodged a 2008 one seems perfectly reasonable to me)...but something still seems weird to me... Here's why:

1) There's a very big asterisk above the "19 Monday."

2) The numbers "19" and "22" have obviously been hand-written over in the same pen that drew the asterisk. It almost looks like that "22" was being turned into a "20." There wasn't even a Monday the 19th in June 2007 (but there was in 2006). If you're going to make a fake 2007 diary from a 2008 diary, why use wrong dates?

3) All of the dates along the bottom of the diary are faded from view. Only three things are conspicuously visible: "July," "M 21," and "T 22." (As wukka pointed out, these are correct dates for July 2008.)

There is more sophisticated photo manipulation technology out there... Obviously, the folks at Penguin are putting a lot of work into this whole thing. Now why the heck would they do such a poor job at altering a diary? If they altered a 2008 diary, they did a realistic job of replacing the "2008" with "2007"...so why would they fall short with replacing the rest of it? Why the wrong dates? Why the hand-bodged numbers? Why the big ol' asterisk hanging out in the upper left hand corner?

And why post a picture of the journal at all, if there aren't any clues on it?

Somethin' seems up... I think maybe we should take another look at it.

Humbly,
--Lep

[Edit: Ahem. Excuse me. I just re-read Slice's mention of the asterisks: "All of these have asterisks next to them, and at the front of the diary it says 'Asterisks for nights I went through'." Nix what I said about the one in the left hand corner. :P Although, now I finally get what MJ's line meant. I thought at first she meant that those were nights that she "went through," as in "experienced"...you know, "I went through the night with a headache," or "I slept through the night," or whatever. But now I realize that she meant that, on each of those dates, she went through the hole in the back wall. I wonder if there is anything significant about those dates in particular? And would the fact that the dates in the diary have been changed tie in?]

If it were to be June, and not July, then the 21 and 22 are the two dates when the Summer Solstice generally occurs.

I think I remember reading that it is even more significant when there is a full moon on the summer solstice.

@iamba

I shared your disquiet about the pages, but am coming to the conclusion it's just errata.

Take a look at this from about 5 pages back. Smile

Also, the Phoenix thing is interesting.

Anyone have any suggestions for what I should tell her about hunting for Mary Jane?

Hi again.

I'm playing around with the weird journal entries that MJ had asterisks next to.

Put "moon song jacomo" into Google, and here is a link I got back:

http://www.songsofnickdrake.com/nick_drake_lyrics.php

Very last song in the list. It's probably a complete coincidence, but it still sent chills down my spine when I read the lyrics. "Jeremy," "Jacomo," "London," "in search of a story"...

Like I said, probably just a coincidence, but a fun and intriguing one. :)
