from looking at just the pics it looks as if Clover went in to save that kid. hence him standing on his head at the end.

Hmmm... Could SLUSHO! (that Ganu discounts to his employs and they seem to be obsessed with...) be turning Tagruato workers to the cult. Or at least weakening their judgdement and perception. I mean look the atendees are all wearing strange black cloaks and worshiping... Look at jamie she ate it pure and she did her "hate dance" in a strange black outfit and her mind was out of it... First made her happy then wiped out and her mind easily open to who knows what... Maybe this attack is years before the NY city attack and the Japanese Government covered it up and said it was an earthquake... I'll look up Earthquakes in Tokyo... I think TIDO waves purpose in all this is to help us learn about the cult and the monster and its origins. They set it up before the movie and now going back to it. sorry for rambling but just my .02...

Many parts of the country have experienced devastating earthquakes and tidal waves in the past. The worst earthquake in Japanese history hit the Kanto plain around Tokyo in the year 1923, when over 100,000 people died in the Great Kanto Earthquake.

In January 1995 a strong earthquake hit the city of Kobe and surroundings. The Southern Hyogo Earthquake (also called Great Hanshin Earthquake) killed 6,000 and injured 415,000 people. 100,000 houses were completely and 185,000 partially destroyed.
