[Missions] Southern California Labrynth Run

Obviously, this will happen some time after the one happening up in San Fransisco on the 20th. Whether any of us get to attend that one or not I think it's a good idea to have a practice run down here at least once.

Going by the player map there's five of us. But I'm sure there's more out there who just haven't added themselves to the map and we can drag friends along right?

So. How do people feel about doing it on a Sunday? Do we want to do this more then once? Shall we make it a monthly thing? Then we could move the venue around month to month.

Also going by the current map we're pretty well spaced out. And because I have a me-centric view of things, I'd like to think I'm at a more or less central location for everybody. So I'm going to suggest that we have our (first) practice run at Disneyland.

Not inside the park mind you. But there are several spots in Downtown Disney and at the Grand Californian outside that would be absolutely ideal for our purposes. (There's no admission fee to Downtown Disney and if you park in the Downtown Disney parking lot it's free for the first 3 hours plus most restaurants validate parking.)

Also? It's just easy to get to. If I say, "Oh hey, you should come to the blimp hangers in Tustin." Or "Let's do this at Mile Square Park"...People generally have no concept of what you're talking about until they get there. But when you say "Disneyland", chances are good that people will be confident about being able to find the place.

And yes, I'm currently making inquiries about if our presence will make the Maus-Police twitchy and how we can avoid that. If the "Tuba Christmas" gang can descend on Downtown Disney on short notice with 800 Tubas to play Christmas carols, I think 5 or 10 or even 20 of us standing around in the shape of a labyrinth will be okay.

Thoughts?

Y'know, I don't think I've used this annual pass even once yet...

An alternate venue of the Olympic Training center down by San Diego has also been suggested.

I will get in contact with the OTC tomorrow to see if there would be any impediments to our presence there - and maybe even some of the athletes in training would want to participate! Very Happy

OK so... Ariock, RangerD, and Pita found out from Noriko that she's in SF for the next couple of days (maybe to protest during the Torch run Very Happy) but after that she's headed to SAN DIEGO!

She mentioned running a labyrinth in there somewhere, but it's unclear right now if she's running a labyrinth *before* coming to SD, or running the labyrinth WHILE in SD.

I'm hoping I can get Unagi or Rivanour to email her and ask (since I don't know a LICK of Japanese).

However, it's looking like we may want to get our training labyrinth plans going VERY QUICKLY!

More info as soon as I get it...

ETA: Just talked to Unagi, who is going to email Noriko for us and find out what her plans are... more tomorrow hopefully!

I just had a short chat with Noriko and let her know we want to run a labyrinth with her.

I didn't keep her long since A] it's late and we know she's on this coast (if that was her) and B] I don't speak Japanese. I'm sure Unagi will be able to get more details from her. Smile

I received a reply from Noriko. I'll PM its translation to Celina.

By the way my fourth and fifth PM to Celina remain for more than an hour in Outbox, not Sentbox. I'm not accoustomed to PM, but is this normal? I've already read a FAQ about this phenomenan.

A given PM moves from Outbox to Sentbox when the recipient reads it.

And here it is!

Noriko wrote:
If a labyrinth training event is held in San Diego, I want to participate by all means.
I heard Los Angels is close, so if an event is held there, I want to participate if possible.

I have no special plans, but, since it's painful that I'm fully supported (financially) by Kai, I want to find a job, so I want to participate as far as circumstances permit.

So, sounds like it's up to us to decide - LA/Orange County, or San Diego/Chula Vista (OTC).

I don't see why we can't have more then one practice session in different venues each time. In fact, we probably should have more then one training session. Like once a month or something.

Practice making perfect aside, it increases her chance of being able to attend at least one.

This is true - and I just now thought that maybe the timing isn't important, since if I understand what she said in her email to Unagi that she's looking for employment, she may be in the area for awhile...

I was originally going under the assumption that she was just passing through.

Noriko emailed Unagi again and confirmed your idea! You're like psychic or something Very Happy

Yes, it might be easier for me to follow the group's proposals of dates.

Since the postcard says "traveled this far to perform trainings intensively", I think it would be great if trainings could be held more than once, although I don't know the true meaning of this postcard yet. I don't know what and how to stop either ....
