According to Jacques, Hattie is in hospital, in a coma, she had an accident in the storeroom.
http://treacleandink.wordpress.com/2008/03/26/inspired-again/

Now, either the mirror takes the mind and that is what happened to Hattie, which means marsh-ayre is not there or we need to be looking for his body,

or

Hattie was attacked in the store room (by jacques, by marsh Ayre) for some reason, but the uncle has gone through.

Ah, I'd missed that, interesting, the old fake coma mis-direction, she's an evil genius!

Yes, coming from the not-too-honest Jacques, I didn't believe the coma story.

Jacques certainly seems to know what happened to them and I think he's trying to protect the same thing from happening to Alice. Shame he can't be more honest about it with her or it would help us to get back Marsh-Ayre et al.

I have been looking at the hospital thing, where Hattie "is" has a history, especially when it comes to psychiatric care. See my earlier post:

Quote:
Here is an extract from a postcard sent from a patient at the old Muswell Hill hospital in 1904:

Quote:
I have the heartiest desire to leave here and get to as quiet a place as possible. If possible to get a job. When you call I shall be prepared to leave and if you can arrange with the Dr. I can find a suitable place in the country for a day or two, when I hope to get a job, to keep myself on because I am utterly sick of all I know and I want to get away from everybody. At the same time I don't want to learn much more until I am on my own hands again.

Interestingly, not only does this sound similar to Spinankles profile blurb, but the card was dated June 12th

Quote:
June 12th
O Jacomo, O Jacomo.

The sender of the postcards was a patient, Edward o. Cole, who, for reasons I can't fathom as yet, went by an alias, A.Hog. I was drawn to this
a) because of the similar feeling I got from the postcard & spinakles LibraryThing profile, and
b) A.Hog = pig/baby from Alice

Isn't it funny how you find the most interesting stuff, that seems to link, that is completely coincidental! God bless the all knowing, all seeing NET!!

Yes, that seems to be the case, although the text says 6.:30pm London Time.

Actually, 7.30 pm would be GMT, alias "fixed time". Shame they didn't point this out, I specifically made plans to be here for this hour. Bit annoyed really.... Raspberry

That's sort of annoying, nothing to do with the next hour now...

Anyone else get the feeling this is going to be some sort of horror story?
