Cloverfield/Dark Tower Connection?[OT] Definitely not,
But if JJ wanted to, he could throw in something small easily. He's signed on to make the Dark Tower movies (whenever they get made...). If anyone's read the Dark Tower books, look at the description of the lobstrosities from the beginning of The Drawing of the Three , and then look at the parasites from Cloverfield... I just started re-reading the books and when i got to the description, i almost freaked, the parasites would make AWESOME lobstrosities, they are perfect for it. And the studios would save the design costs too...

I've seen it confirmed on a couple sites with quotes from JJ,I'll try to dig them up and post the links...
They're my fav. books so I hope they get done right, unlike most of Stephen King's great books that make it to the big screen (see: Dreamcatcher, err... or I mean... don't see). But after Lost and Cloverfield, I probably wouldn't want anyone else doing it but JJ anyway...

I'd have to finish reading em through to get an idea of how it'd translate into movies. so far i can't imagine they would use much from the early parts of gunslinger. it's great story telling but the pacing is too strange for a big expensive movie.
i wanna take bets as to how soon someone will tell you to move this thread. haha

I have seen this confirmed on various sites as well, but I have to disagree with the parasites matching the description of the lobstrosities, but it's been awhile since I read The Drawing of the Three , so I don't remember too well what they looked like(haven't gotten to The Waste Lands , but it is literally sitting on my desk; hoping to get to it soon).
I think your wishful thinking has gotten to you, is all.
By the way, in The Mist , director Frank Darabont said he wanted the giant scorpion-crab thing to resemble the lobstrosities as kind of an in-joke to tie into The Dark Tower a little (not officially, though). If you haven't seen it, The Mist is one of the greatest horror films of all time, in my opinion (I'm a huge horror fan).
Edit: I said "in-joke," but it's not really a joke....
Maybe I should've said "reference" or something.

The Mist was good, you say? I have heard so many conflicting reviews and being a big King fan, I was scared to watch the movie, but I'll probably go rent it soon then.
As far as the lobstrosities go, the main thing that got me was they were described as having a large serrated beak, and that was practically the main feature of the parasites.
Just finished reading The Gunslinger for the second time, and started The Drawing... today, they're even better the second time around...

Were some of the paintings of King books other than Dark Tower ? I know one of them was a painting for John Carpenter's The Thing (another top-notch horror movie), but couldn't identify any of the others.

The movie's ending fails compared to the book's, in my opinion, but King approved (loved, actually, as I remember reading it) of it. So I'm satisfied.
The Dark Tower movies are guaranteed to be awesome. At least, they'd better be...
In the meantime, read the Gunslinger Born comic series! It's amazing! And the Long Road Home is shaping up to be incredible too! Jae Lee is a pimp...

No, this does not describe the Mist's ending. The Mist's ending was the most fenominal, unexpected, ironical, and disturbing ending ive ever seen in a movie. AMAZING ending, mediocer acting, good focus on character, I have a slight grudge against one of the CGI scenes(the 1st in the store) ****outof*****
And I though Thing was agood movie
