(Spec)Explosion in manga same type as beginning of movie???

I find this page in the manga intriguing:

It shows Clover being attacked then a slight pause and then a huge explosion 'around' Clover (almost like he/she is creating the explosion) We have been told that all of Clovers abilities were not really shown in the movie, could creating these explosion be one of Clovers unexplored (yet) abilities.

Please excuse this comment if somebody has already suggested it.

I have been wondering, as the story of Kishin has unfolded, whether or not the whole world of Kishin is meant to be a Japanese interpretation of what went on in America.

In the same way that American film makers took the Godzilla story and orchestrated an attack on New York, with an American spin - What if Kishin is designed to be (i.e. MEANT to represent) a Japanese retelling of the story we were introduced to on 1-18-08.

I think this might explain the parallels between what we saw in the photos on http://www.1-18-08.com and in the movie, Cloverfield with the images we see in the Kishin comic.

Tell me what you think.

Not sure if he can generate an explosion. It looks to me like his arms are crossed in the first picture preparing to swip away all the things around him. The end result is the final picture with his arms wide open and everything around him destroyed and exploding.

Explosion

I thought the same thing when I saw that sequence. It was also like in the video with the Tag employees on the raft escaping from the oil platform and how all of the pieces started flying out of the water randomly before smashing them. Like they were blown out similar to the beginning of the movie.

Yep, I also thought about that, but 'if' this is some special attribute of Clovers, how does it work? I don't know how this could be done physically by just waving it arms or doing something else with its body, so if it's not a physical power (and I'm not ruling that out, this is a giant monster movie/manga after all). Another possibility is that it's some kind of psychic ability something like telekinesis, or pyrokinesis or a combination of both, there is the suggested psychic link between Kishin and Clover <-- that sound funny.

It's kinda hard to tell exactly what's going on in that manga pic...but I don't think that Clover is generating an explosion.

Larz already said that in the Kishin thread.

Except that it only shows that if you read it left to right.. Manga is read right to left. The actual sequesnce of events is:

MGP Coils up.
He lashes out, destroying the two helicopters then a tank
Pull back pannel showing he's laid waste to everything withing reach of his huge arms as seecondary explosions/building collapses occur.
Then the final pause/beat panel showing his head rising above the smoke and someone wondering WTH?

I originally thought the second row of panels were incoming missile strikes (ie: Coil, strikes, explosion, wth?) until I noticed the shapes of the destroyed vehicles in them.

Honestly though, with how awkwardly this artist renders action sequences, I can't rule out he generated some explosion or something, only that the pause came first.

Look at the perfect circle under him and the circular swirl around his head. Looks like he spun pretty quick. It looks to me like he generated the explosions by spinning and creating some kind of massive air pressure or vortex or something like that. If something that big spun around could it create enough wind and pressure to destroy things? Maybe just brute strength from flinging his long arms destroyed everything?

He seems to be taking in all the bullets/firing and then somehow releasing it from his body!

Remember the Chuai Station, with the bits of the station flying upwards, like an explosion?
Between that page and the explosion in the movie/news report, it seems the monster can reflect objects. Bit like a baseball bat.

Doh! Forgot about that, but I don't think it matters in regards to the theory.

I agree.

Ya I noticed the "spinning" marks also, but if Clover is spinning to create this effect, then you would think that in the Chuai videos we would see some kind of vortex in the water before the pieces of the station go flying into the air. I did go back a look at the videos and I did not see any vortex forming in the water, so I don't know about the spinning action <shrug>

That is kinda what I was saying, something like telekinesis 'seems' to be at work.

It looks to me as if in the first strip at the top hes swinging his hands in either direction, then in the middle strip, since theres no colour its hard to pull the cartoonic swing motion we see looking like a kamahama, (lol yeah i reference DB) out from the typical chaos action background. then i think the last strip is showing that he whiped everything out with the swing of his arms.
