 		hahahaha! great minds think alike, apparently. though i LOVE your idea of tidowave being a tagruato front. the ARG and the manga is completely overshadowing the movie for me at this point, i gotta admit. i'll still probably be the only fool at wal-mart at 11:59 on the 21st, but still. something about all this mystery just makes the movie seem a little... bland.

as far as the monster goes, i'm sick of people quoting the producers saying it was a "baby". it was LIKE a baby in it's awkwardness and scaredness. i think the manga has correlating with JJ saying it's been down there a while. like japanese scientists knew there was this behemoth lurking in the deep, and tido and tagruato have become like rivals trying to capture it or something. i don't believe for a second that tido (if real) is just a peaceful protest group. if they ARE the cult, it's so cool how two sides of the coin exist. one group reveres it, and wants to possess it through prayer. the other group wants to dissect it, and own it through science. it's like a "consequences for the perversion of nature" lesson or something

you know another thing that's always bugged me? this is way back in the ARG.... there was an article on tagruato about how ganu yoshida was attacked by a group of people, and all they managed to do was pour a "mysterious" liquid over his head. seabed's nectar? i don't know what just made me think of that... but i'm hoping that the manga delves more into what SBN really is. if you were a member of an extremist group and had a chance to take a shot at the CEO that you despise so much, and all you manage to do is dump some SBN on his head, it must be some pretty serious stuff.

yeah man ive had other thoughts on my theory but because of some of my choices *cough* i forget things at times lol. if ya catch my drift. But all of that "terrorist" attack on ganu with the pouring or what not, again could be an elabourate story made by the people behind the scenes to make ganu and tagruato look good. But like I said. Big huge coverup conspiracy. why else wouldnt we have know about this attack on japan? It seems to me that theres too much info trying to prove Tagruato is a good company and Tido is the peace loving extremist group you would want to join if you want to help "The Cause". This cause of which we still havnt heard anything about it besides the fact that its called The Cause.

Edit: Just had another thought. What if when JJ or whoever said this was a "Tribute to 911" what they were referring to was actually all the conspiracy theorys out there stating that the US government was involved in it, and like the new "where were you when clovie hit" ad it says what you thought you knew is only the beginning.

hahaha, i forget theories that i come up with due to certain choices i make as well *swallows, makes an ugly face*. that's really interesting, though. i would've never looked at it that way, but it makes a lot of sense you seek out to fight "the cause", which is an excellent way for tagruato higher-ups to be able to kidnap and weed out people who may actually pose a serious threat to uncovering what they were up to.

remember that older article? about the in-game japanese scientist who discovered something amazing? here, let me post the summary from the despoiler:

Kazui Ichigawa is a deceased marine biologist. He died on 28Sep07, at the age of 63, shortly after retirement, having reportedly made a "magnificent discovery" (only known to him). Ichigawa was found dead, along with the bodies of his wife, daughter and granddaughter, in Daisetsu-San National Park, a popular RV camping area. An early police report stated that they were killed by a gas explosion. Strangely, his computer and files, even the ones in his home safe, have disappeared.

hmmm...

hopefully we start finding out some REAL stuff through the last mangas... i'm just hoping that they are planning on ending the game at some point with some real answers. not any time soon, mind you, but one day. when the game returned, we got teddy picture first, then we got the swords each day on each site... and the last seeming in-game (though not confirmed) is that message i was talking about on tidowave.com. so maybe we'll start getting some real info on tagruato and tido. haha, i don't know if you had been checking the movie characters' myspaces, but i loved how the day after the film's release, they changed hud's height to something like 2"6'.

Yes I definitely noticed that man. Also maybe Teddy really is dead. (sorry guys look alike extra) and this is maybe pointing at Jamie being the next character. She maybe a wh**e but none the less shes the only other character with a myspace. But I agree with you that Id like answers in the end, but not anytime soon.

you know, now that you mention it, we all recall that all you see of jamie in the film is of her passed out on the couch after consuming pure SBN. she may not have died. it's never said whether or not rob's apartment building was damaged in any way. unless you consider the fact that the army ended up bombing the crap out of everything.

also, when they are taking off in the helicopter at the end, you see something on fire plummet to the ground. i've seen the movie in theatres like 6 times, and i own a bootleg, and i STILL can't tell it if it's a helicopter. lily was forced into a seperate heli, and when rob lists the names of everyone close to him who was killed by the monster, he fails to mention her.

Thants true. Also remember when they initally ran into the store when the SoL's head got thrown, that was the store that Lily and Jason were in before the suprise party. meaning it was rite under his house and it was untouched in that scene apparently. But then again we dont know what happens to it after they take off or even after the camera is "lost".

And yeah that flaming ball that gets thrown is still a mystery to me as well. Ive got a bootleg as well and i just cant tell if its a hummer or a chopper or what.

check this out. i just dashed to my dvd player to rip "scrubs" out becos something just dawned on me.

hasn't it bugged the hell out of you that the movie apparently takes place from friday may 22rd through saturday may 23rd, yet the in-game events seem to suggest that the monster attack actually happened on 1-18-08? i feel like such a f**king moron that this never occured to me....... okay, two points:

-in the beginning of the film "CAMERA RETRIEVED AT INCIDENT SITE U.S. 447".

-the camera dates shown are april in the beginning, and may at the end. rob NEVER says what YEAR it is.

alright, hahahaha... stay with me. what if the monster attacked new york on may 22nd *2007*. and the camera wasn't retrieved until 1-18-08? that would seriously explain the date discrepancies with the ARG and the film. and also, the fact that we aren't watching the film WHEN it happened, it's obviously a military archive of the film, just as the beginning suggests. the fact that the attack on manhattan is called "INCIDENT SITE U.S. 447" seems to suggest that there's some form of military code of monster ATTACKSSSS. i'm stressing the "S". all this "1-18-08.com" stuff, and otherwise related things could be retrievals from far after the movie incidents took place. my next point is a little far-fetched...

this *could* explain what happens in the manga . if it attacked tokyo FIRST, the world would know. perhaps the monster surfaced, and ravaged the USA first (not just manhattan), tagruato somehow subdued and captured it, and then it reawakened to destroy tokyo becos of whatever connection it had with kishin? i don't know if it was ever OFFICIALLY said that the manga serves as a "prequel", i just remember reading it on third-party sites that talked about it. please correct me if i'm wrong on the manga thing.

but i do think i may be onto something concerning the movie timeline vs. the game-world timeline.... i'm smelling some kickass sh*t for a sequel.

 		May 22nd & 23rd don't fall on friday & saturday in 2007. I read somewhere around here (discussion about the date most probably) that the only time BEFORE 1-18-08 that May 22nd & 23rd were friday & saturday respectivly was in 1998. After that, the 22nd & the 23rd fall into those dates in 2009.

defintely true, friend. but it still sucks, and drives me f**king nuts that the date discrepancies are so ridiculous. everything with the ARG suggests that it all goes down on 1-18, but everything in the movie suggests otherwise. i'm not a fan of "lost" (only cos i've just never watched it), but through friends who are avid fans, i can say in confidence that JJ doesn't so sh*t like that for no reason. why say in the movie that it's may 22nd-23rd, when the ARG says it all happened on jan 18th? it just makes me nuts, in a stupid, over-involved, geeky way.

people have suggested that the date on the camera was wrong, but that theory is just f**king idiotic to me. if it were january, everyone in the film would be freezing their nuts off, and we would've seen breath condensation. i grew up in new york, and i know how january goes. and, call me a SUPER-geek, but looking at solar charts, if it WERE in january, the sun would've been ABOVE the horizon when rob first started filming at beth's dad's place. the only way for the sun to still be BELOW the horizon at 6:42AM, is if it were in a late spring-to-summer-month. and, the sun was definitely BELOW the horizon when filming began. so the whole "camera date was wrong, rob just read it off the camera out of panic" scenario is out of the window on that. it's april right now. if there were a monster holocaust, and i were recording it, i wouldn't say it was october just cos my video camera settings said so. that's like being mad at your girlfriend cos even though she texted you yesterday, you bitch her out becos the last time she texted you was in december (according to an incorrect setting on your phone).

i've been extremely aware of the dates and whatnot, and that the prospect of this movie happening in the future was semi-plausible, due to the next time that may 23rd would fall on a satuday being in 2009.... BUT-

we're gonna have to look at this thing as an ALTERNATE timeline, just as it's an ARG. i just can't make sense of why this web has been weaved so intricately online, but when the actual film is concerned, it contradicts everything entirely.

 		and forgive me (sailor jerry is a good friend) but, i've been drinking. so i don' t quite recall when the japanese earthquakes took place that killed 100,000+ people. some have argued that the ARG could consider those deaths and that event to be a cover-up; i don't remember if i read it here, or on another board... but even still. i think that technology was advanced enough (unless it was in the 50's, in which case people wouldn't have portable TV devices like in the manga, i think it was in the 90's) for japan to NOT be able to hide a 350-ft monster rampage.

either way, one or the other took place first. either new york, or tokyo. and either way, the world would know. so one attack wouldn't be unknown to the other.

unless the manga is written to be non-cannonical to the film.
