Haha, manga or no, comics tend to work like that. Like, the two pages that are black bordered, that means they are flashbacks or a dream or something like that. You can also tell the dialouge is transitioning from Clover's "thoughts" to the Prof. Dad talking because, at the bottom left corner (that would be the end of the page in a manga), the greyness is lighting back up into white, which shows a transition form the flashback or dream or whatever back into the main story at hand. And because it's going from squares back to bubbles.

(off topic- Death Note is an excellent manga. Very dialouge-driven, wonderful plot twists, no clear good or bady guys... Great stuff.)

This just gets deeper and deeper. If Paramount actually decides to merge the two, we will have a whole new scenario on our hands. There is more story here than anything in the movie. I had dreams last night about how this plays out....

well thanks for that. i would've been so lost on that for my summary.... i read comics as a kid (strangely, all i remember is the "maximum carnage" series in spiderman), but i've never read manga before. haha, since this episode is getting so deep, you might be getting messages from me when it's time to summarize on the site. ;D

The masks are meant to look a bit like the masks for Japanese (Kabuki?) theatre. the type an actor would use to represent an Oni (like a demon but less specifically evil). Both the hair and horns come from that. The leader obviously has the more detailed and elaborate mask.

Good call, I forgot about the Kabuki reference. It makes a little more sense now. Damn, I can't wait for the next installment!

"Splinter of Amnion" is very interesting. And it confirms that Clover is neither amphibian nor fish (I thought it was some sort of amphibian ^^;; ).
