A similar situation(double agents-ing)but in another game. A player gave a list(uF usernames) to the "bad guys". In which most of the uF usernames were never used to contact the characters (OOG info).

So in relaying messages, proceed with caution Wink

It should be very easy to decode... the first part of the coded message contain the text in plain text. The next part, is an email address, that use all the previous character conversion.

When we decide on a cipher to use, I'll volunteer to pose as a double agent on the forum, if that's what we're sure Thumos is going to do.

Also, would hiding the encoded message as base64 be too obvious?

Personally, I really like the Bacon suggestion assuming that there is a easier way to implement it. Since we may not have the luxury of the underlying HTML or the multiple font choices (especially if posting in a forum) we might need a way to do it otherwise.

Here's a good reference on two ways (one using caps versus lowercase and one using set range of letters).

The obvious problem with the caps method is that it's fairly obvious. Still takes work though, and might be enough to show desire to communicate.

Once the first exchange happens, an alternate cipher could be used with the key exchanged in another way.

This links doesn't have all the supplemental pages up anymore, but shows a variety of encoding techniques that could be applied to a Bacon AB cipher..

Although, another solution to avoid the font issue, would be to actually write a normal post, but have an off-site link to an image, pdf or word doc that could utilize the typeface staggering method. Gets you best of both worlds. Would be fairly easy to throw an image up on Flickr. Personally I would prefer a version with text that could be editable (even as a PDF which could be imported), that way you get 'see' the fonts differences in the underlying code if you knew what you were looking for as opposed to just doing it visually.

My comments weren't actually directed at you. At least they weren't until you revealed that you are trying to send a message to T. The issue is that In-Game and Out-of-Game only have bearing as long as the PMs and we, the players allow them to have bearing.

Assuming we get an email address for Theo, in a bid to curry favor with him, I could let him know that newworld is really victor and that you are working against him. If suddenly, Theo no longer trusts you and stops corresponding with you due to my information, then maybe you were wrong to trust me or the other players to give us that information.

I probably won't do that. But someone most likely will, if history is any indication. As I said, be aware of what you post here for people who are also playing the game and also want character interaction.
