So I sent him a friend request and he accepted much faster than I imagined he would. Nothing big on his page, although there is a Facebook link to a "what happened in piedmont" page where you can become a fan and discuss crap. Kristens friend request is pending.

I knew "piedmont" sounded familiar. The Andromeda Strain is one of my favorite books. This'll be fun.

There is a "Game" section on the A&E web site that says "Prepare to join the Wildfire team on May 5, 2008."

ya i just saw an ad where you hear screams and someone being attacked on a floor by something, you cant tell what though its in black and white and its shaky. then it says

"What happened in piedmont?"
then it says www.whathappenedinpiedmont.com

I came here to post this thread but ive been beaten to it
maybe i can get into something other than Cloverfield now Razz

[also im in south Florida, and watching A&E, i saw it around 11:30-45]

EDIT:
Another commercial, still puzzling, it shows the world population and the sound of someone breathing deeply and the population starts decreasing rapidly till 0, then The letters turn a yellow/orange color and turn to dust, then it says The Andromeda Strain *turns to dust* Memorial Day 9pm*dust*

for those that don't know the book/movie, I suggest reading teh Wiki:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

...It brought an organism that kills by clotting blood to powder. On investigating the town, it is discovered that the residents of the town die in mid-stride or go "quietly nuts" and commit bizarre suicide...

Also:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildfire_%28disambiguation%29

"A secret underground biological testing facility in both the book The Andromeda Strain and The Andromeda Strain (film)"

And finally... I don't think I have to spoiler this:

Quote:
n September 2004, the Sci Fi Channel announced it would begin production of a miniseries, executive produced by Ridley and Tony Scott and Frank Darabont. On May 2, 2007 it was mentioned on SciFi channel's news website (The SciFi Wire) that the long- awaited miniseries will now be shown on the A&E Network and has the potential to run up to six hours. Also, on August 16th, 2007, cast and crew filmed at the Surrey, BC campus of Simon Fraser University.[1]. The miniseries is now slated to premiere on Monday, May 26, 2008 (U.S. Memorial Day) at 9:00 PM (Eastern), and is billed as a "a two-night television event".[2]

If you read the terms on the website you will see that it is about an upcoming web game.

Yes, we're aware of that... but backstory and information can't hurt in the meantime. Smile

Don't freak out. It's not like *you* have thirty pages of baked goods leading up to your ARG... Wink

As long as we get a snack-break somewhere in the game. Very Happy

EDIT: didn't mean to thread-jack. Back to our regularly scheduled missing persons/so what had happened was...thread

Lol...sorry... Razz

The new post didn't have very much in it, but I thought this comment from his first post was interesting:

Quote:
Hi Andrew, I'm an amateur radio operator in Oklahoma, and my signals visit that area often. Right now there is a huuge storm over Colorado, so the pickings are slim in that direction. I have a friend who is in the Air National Guard in a small town in southern Idaho. (are there any other types there?) I heard from him Sunday, before the weather closed in, and he said they were readying for a huge (to them) operation. (he's n a group that fly helicopters for various support activities) All they knew at the time was they were to pick up people and material, and take it some distance into Utah. He and a couple of the other guys can, and often do, reprogram their radios to amateur frequencies. (The Army isn't too wild about it but they look the other way) Lord only knows what the weather will do, but I will be listening…… best of luck, hang in there!

Reach out and touch…

OK so this is all new to me, so bear with me, but the name Ritter sounded familiar...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
She was one of the two people to survive the Andromeda strain from the book.

not sure if this helps

The allusion to the Air National Guard and the helicopters sets me off on that one, since I've read the book so many damn times. Definitely IG (not like it would really be OOG, but you get it). Looks like we'll be looking at this one from the outside in.

It's hard to tell about any of the other comments, whether they're just people who know the book or actually meant to be there. Heh, I think my first comment didn't get posted because I blatantly referenced it too much Wink
