[SPEC] Halo or Windows XP SP2? Have we all been tricked? Could Microsoft possibly be this excited about SP2 for Windows XP? Or perhaps something will be hidden in SP2. Check the dates out.

Apparently Microsoft Australia released the info early and the premier customers have been notified.
Thoughts?

Heh, I know.. From now on whenever the user does something stupid securty wise, XP will take pictures of them with a web cam and send them threatening messages. The next step will be to start taking contracts out on the users. After all, its not MS' fault Windows is full o holes. They just need to get rid of all the stupid users. I mean, after all, the SP2 is rumored to be as close to a completely new version of the OS as you can get without releasing one. I also think I read some place that the next code name after Longhorn will be HAL 9000. lol

I just installed the RTM SP2 on my laptop.
Yesterday.
It's not SP2.

SP DR Maybe that's just part of the puzzle...We have SP, now we need DR. I know you guys think I'm nuts, but how many coincidences can there be in a game before you actually hit one that matters? (I guess a lot if people start making false web pages and stuff...okay - done rambling - but check this out).

Well, if it's hidden in SP2, couldn't the people that have it already just bump the clock up a few days, or something?

Why in god's name would Microsoft spend considerable resources, tapping into the Halo universe & hype only to announce a service pack that virtually every computer user in the world will be forced to use out of necessity??
Look, Tuesdays are not an uncommon day to launch software.

Jeez! I was only suggesting that the dates lined up. While software, DVDs, music and games all come out on Tuesdays, don't these dates seem to line up strangely for ANYONE out there?
I don't mean to suggest the puzzle isn't Halo 2 related. I'm merely suggesting that perhaps the SP2 update holds another clue. It can't be any more rediculous an idea than the Halo 2 demo anagram floating around. I can pull 'Windows XP Service Pack To Be Released Tuesday, August Twenth-Fourth' and still have plenty of letters left.

I'm quite glad that someone else is thinking the same as I on this matter. That's what I was talking about changing the date around for - seeing if anything happens when the date is changed, and the time set for... before noon, EST? I belive that's when the last day-only countdown changed. It might do something for those of us impatient enough to wait for the real Aug. 10, 12:00 PM EST, 2004. Then again, all it might do is cause windows to laugh at us and say "You thought you could find something?! Ha! HA HA! HA! Now, like windows, I shall BSOD, and die on you ! HA! HA HA! HA-- *bluescreens and dies.*" =P

Because for a core upgrade to an operating system, you want to add as much extra crap as possible to it.
Make sure to add little bits about games.
If you really think that Microsoft has hidden something about this game in the service pack, you're an idiot.
Plus XP SP2 RTM came out Friday.

Just as a note, that can't/won't happen (assuming you're thinking some sort of Easter Egg). One of M$'s biggest customers is the US Government and they insist there be no undocumented features in the software they buy (for obvious reasons). So as opposed to writing a whole separate version, they just don't include any eggs or hidden features.
