Hi Charles,
I stumbled across your site the other day, and I was very intrigued. I
live near the Cambridge area and you inspired me to take a visit up to the
hospital campus to get an updated image of the surroundings. I took a
bunch of pictures and posted them in an online gallery. If you'd like to
use any of them on your site, feel free. Here's a link to the gallery:

Excellent, a reply!

Dear dishboy,
Thank you so much for sharing your pictures with me and for your very
generous offer to allow me use them on my site. I acquired many of the
images already there in much the same way, from other visitors to my
website who also made the journey to the old hospital site. So I just
may take you up on your offer indeed.
I found the pictures of the old specifications document you found
particularly interesting. This is exactly the type of thing that Old
Todd loves to collect and store in his many hidey holes around
Cambridge, probably with plans to eventually tear them up into tiny
pieces as he is wont to do for some strange reason. I wouldn't doubt
that the workers now at the old Cambridge site have stumbled upon
another one of his previously undiscovered caches and that may indeed
be where the document came from.
Cambridge looks much the same as the last time I visited there. It is a
shame that you couldn't have seen the place back in its heyday, when it
truly was an impressive sight.
Please let me know if you get a chance to return there at any time.
Sincerely,
Charles
Thoughts?

Well, it doesn't really give us much sense as to whether the doc you found was coincidence or a plant. He finds it interesting, which sounds promising though. I'd say that if you go back again, you should definitely tell him and maybe you'll find something else interesting?

Well, I'm not sure if this means anything, but the pictures he's referring to are not available from the link I sent him to. In the gallery there is only a small picture of the cover. His email sounds like he saw multiple pictures, which are only linked to the trip report, which I don't know how he could have found. It could be that he's just talking about the cover, or it could be a slip-up by the PMs, and it could be a deliberate way of suggesting that this thing is important, or that there may be others like it that are important...

Good Morning Charles,
Great to hear from you. I am glad you liked the pictures, despite the
lack of anything ground-breaking in them. At the least, I think they
give credence to the thought that CMH is not some foreboding wasteland
like some people (i.e., those behind this reality show myth) seem to
think. I agree with you that it seems a lot of that story is
sensationalized.
Are you planning a return trip to CMH soon? I am planning on going back
soon to see more of the area that I didn't get a chance to reach. Is
there any chance we could maybe meet up there soon? I figured you know
the area a lot better than I do and it might be interesting to get your
perspective on the area. Oh, and maybe get to meet Old Todd...
Take care...

In all honesty i believe the doc you have is out of game. The story seems like it was a coverup by the PM to tie it to the game it was a good cover by the way. That also might explain the delay in receiving a response, you caught them off guard and they had to think of an answer. I think if you were to give a notice that you were going again you really may find something for in game. Maybe ask Charles when the best time would be to go and explore and the best areas to explore. This gives time to plant in game stuff and a general location to search instead of the entire grounds.

retep, I think you pretty much summed up my own feelings on the issue exactly. I think I have "given a notice", as you suggested, by letting two in-game characters know that I intend to return, and soon. While I didn't specifically ask Charles when/where to go, I figured that asking for his help (by joining me) would either cause him to say yes (which would be sweet!) or instead to offer suggestions via email. But yeah, basically I was hoping for some kind of signal. I assume that, if it doesn't come at some point, maybe I'll just go when I get a chance anyways - it's not like it's a super long haul for me.
Anyways, do you think I left something out in my communications with them that should be sent via another email? Otherwise I'm just gonna hold off for awhile until, hopefully, we hear something...

As I was reading Dishboy's reply from Charles, I came across Old Todd's "obsession."

TEAR THEM UP INTO TINY PIECES
Now as I read those words, I suddenly remembered reading something very similar to that on the Action Squad CMH mission at http://www.actionsquad.org/mental.html
Quote:
In one room, someone had spent a lot of time tearing everything that was remotely paper-like into tiny, uneven squares.
Now what can this mean? Is Old Todd a real person? Is this some odd coincidence? Are the Action Squad the PMs? (Which has been speculated somewhere in the forums. I can't remember where though.)
I think if Dishboy does get to arrange a meeting with Charles (and hopefully Old Todd) we will be in for a tasty treat. I think someone should try to contact the Action Squad and hopefully we will find some helpful information.

Skratch, we've speculated before that Old Todd's bird obsession and paper-tearing were inspired by the Action Squad website. It also seems very likely that Action Squad is out-of-game.
But who knows?

Sorry about that.
Well Action Squad is probably out of game but doesn't it seem more likely that the Action Squad themselves have something to do with this game? Has anyone contacted them about it?

We can't rule it out, but my money is on no. Groups of urban explorers are pretty common, I'm sure there's at least one for every big city - maybe they don't all have such nice and elaborate webpages, but we definitely know the site has existed for several years and everything they claim to explore seems legit. I was looking at the Action Squad site at work one day and one of my co-workers had a peek and recognized many of the locations...
Anyways, the only connection that ActionSquad has to the game is about CMH, and given the nature of that hospital, I'm not surprised to see that they made a trip there. I'm with Rob in thinking that the PMs relied on this site as a method of reference, and probably even developed a character (Old Todd) based on their exploits. We could be wrong, and if you want to take up investigating or communicating with ActionSquad I say go for it...

Yeah, you're probably right. But, you never know, the Action Squad should never be forgotten...

I just e-mailed the Action Squad people. I'm hoping that I'll be able to tell if they're in game or not. by their reply.
