All I can say about those pictures... If we manage to find the blonde instead, can I keep her? Smile

I guess I must be one of the few people left that actually still believes in love, romance and chilvry. I placed a few link for the poor guy because I really don't see anything creepy about it. The post is really less creepy than you wanting the blond. Wink

Our modern ideas of romance seem to have changed drastically from just a couple of generations ago. We think it is totally acceptable as a society to looks for mates on internet dating sites, myspace or facebook. Popular music sings of, "I will love you forever." "I will never let you go..." This seems like a classic case of guy loves girl, guy loses girl, guy go to great lengths to find girl. Honestly, what is so creepy?

When a guy uses a billboard to propose people go, "Awwww, look. How nice." Twenty years ago if a guy traveled across the country to find his lost love it would be considered admirable and romantic. Today, if a guy uses the internet to do the same thing people want to active the stalker alert and light the torches to find the monster.

Did the internet kill romance?

It's not that the guy is making some massive campaign to get one more shot at this love that's creepy. It's the fact that this love seems to border on the obsessive. Maybe there's a reason they lost touch?

If you want to go ahead and help the guy, go for it. I can get pretty sappy when the mood strikes me, so god knows I can understand where the dude is coming from, taking this one last chance at it. At the same time, I can understand why people would think it's a smidge creepy.

Not really sure what, if anything, to do with any of these pages.

The form originates from and redirects back to that home business site - you can pretty much bet it's a spam trap. If this was a reputable ARG I'd expect the form to go to the same domain the page is served from at very least. I find it really odd how prominently the TrekAmerica mention is and that they'd bother to have a link to it - to 'Employment' no less. Notice also that the other form (served again from that home business site) supposedly for 'Christi' has a place for a birth date - why would you need that? That's the kind of personal info often used to validate for lost passwords on an email address - so you can expect they are trying to steal emails with that field. The only other reason you'd need to confirm someone's birth date is if you were dealing in adult content - so they don't send porn or drug info to a minor (which would make them lawbreakers). Consider the photos on the site.

It's got a slightly romantic twist, oddly stalker-ish, and just a bit titillating - doesn't that just cry out for creepy porn addicted freaks?

My advice is to stay away from it. Submit nothing.

ETA: I decided to do a whois run up the chain of powerpagematrix.com and found that it leads to contact info with email for a domain with no content ( lakotaoffice.com ), for which the whois data is pretty well faked. Why do I say it's faked? Because the Yukon Territory is not in Zimbabwe. Another thing that caught my eye was "Fr0gman Internet" in the powerpagematrix.com contact info. I did a search for that on Google, and the results are pretty much all "(insert random words/terms) FULL SCREEN PICTURES AND VIDEOS" links to URLs following the Google index poisoning format of "www.(domain name).(TLD)/(random words/terms).html - so yeah, spammalicious baby!

If there were some way to delete it with fire, I would advise doing this. As it is? Delete while waving lighter in front of computer. FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

I got this email a little while ago, and am certain it's an ARG:

Just wondering if anyone else had gotten it and if they were going to do anything with it. If you google the number, it leads you to a livejournal page alluding to "Erus Rector"...some kind of secret society "warring" with Neurocam and Yellow-1.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I did some more research and it just looks "weird". By the looks of Erus_rector's lj, there's some sort of link to "phreak615" as they say he is "one of ours".

Edit: Adding the link: http://erus-rector.livejournal.com/ Slightly NSFW due to Erus Rector's avatar... Wink

Does that really fit under the SPAM thread? It seems to me that you might want to re-post that (or have an admin/mod move the post, actually) to a new thread so it comes to more peoples' attention.
