I've noticed some reference to chapters, my story says I'm in chapter 3 at the moment, also in that javascript I posted, not sure what this means.

Where did you see chapters?

Edit: just re-read the bit in the corridor, talking about the single teacup (i would quote it, but don't seem able to hightlight in-story text) reminded me of something; could the silver tray it's on, be a teatray in the sky?

I haven't managed to figure out anything more from the 'story' which I have just finished reading, but I have to comment how brilliant I thought it was - not just one sequence of nodes which could make 2 stories by reading it different ways round, but three of them. Really very clever. And even the childhood stories being all interconnected despite them not seeming to at first glance. Really very clever!

There must certainly be something for us to find here though... Marsh-Ayre has been communicating with us through the stories all the way and the oh so familar initials in my mind is simply confirmation that Marsh-Ayre has planted something there for us to find...

I don't think it's coincidence that the map looks like a group of numbers... do these numbers relate to the card values at all??

EDIT: Just a thought, maybe we are supposed to put these numbers together with numbers from the previous stories, I'm thinking specifically of the hotel room number which seemed to jump out from the first story...

I saw it in the javascript of the story, i think each bit of text, or node may be referred to as a chapter though, so I don't think it has any relevance. Initially I thought perhaps what 'chapter' of the story you were on affected what text you saw, but I can't find any alternate text in the javascript than that you initially see.

Could Mr. Nasser-Yamamoto be linked to MA in anyway? Do those names mean anything else?

@ batgirl, yes! I like it

that was 355 I think, I was also thinking maybe the code he used to escape his prison in story 1 too, that was 2504 I think (I'm studying for exams so my memories in overdrive Razz )

I can't think of any other numbers from other stories that jumpe out... and 0383552504 is one short of being a realy number...

re: the 'secret message' in this week's story - the thing that keeps coming to mind to me is that shaan azad's story could be described as 'the path of man'. i'm wondering if it's trying to hint at something we seem to have already worked out on our own.

spoiler for further reasoning via significantly more 'meta' ways of thinking:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

well, i say 'we', i mean 'you lot' as i still don't quite get all the tarot stuff. which makes me think even more that they were expecting people to need a further nudge on which path TMA needed to follow, and either a) they didn't expect you lot to be so brainy, or b) they are still trying to make it accessible to the untrained ARGer and also c) i imagine these 6 stories by 'normal' authors will have been written in advance and therefore less adaptable to the players' progress than the 7th story which is being written by an author who is pretty good at writing on the fly.

so i would guess the next thing to do is to further guide TMA to the other cards or things he needs to do to follow the path of man.

p.s. amadeus, your story rocked :) very robert rankin i thought!

 Competition

tried googling "Nasser-Yamamoto" got links to this thread, and http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/, One thread of which gives all the competition answers and made me mad, like all my hard (yet enjoyable!) work discovering the stories and having fun was being cheated somehow....

Anyway has anyone seen the submission form for the competition? or is there going to be a seventh question, just for us? Very Happy

Fortunate?

From the Contrariwise information....
Quote:

"Mr Thomas Marsh-Ayre!" he declared, before I could say a word. "And you're looking for a card, is that right?"
I nodded. The studio audience whooped and applauded wildly. The assistant swung her hips. I was reminded of Hattie, for some reason, although she has never, to my knowledge, worn a skin-tight sequinned dress, slashed almost to the hips.
"OK then Mr Marsh-Ayre, why don't you," and he motioned to the audience, who chanted along with him "Give Her A Spin?"
I span the disc. The numbers raced round, before slowly coming to a halt.
Clatter, $5,0000, clatter, $10,000, clatter, $250, clatter…. 0.

It sounds to me like Marsh-Ayre was on the "Wheel of Fortune" Game show!
But was the card that appeared at the end the obvious one, or something different?

It must have been the obvious one, I'm not saying the rules of the mirror world are fixed but he seems to be getting his cards from appropriate situations (like he got the hermit when he was being solitary) and we did all tell him to get the

so if he didn't it's his fault Razz

Sharazad

The last tory is based on "Tales from the 1001 Nights" Could Shahrazad be linked to Shaan Azad somehow?
If so, would that help us at all? Wink

EDIT: Reading Andy's post made me think; if the assistant reminds him of Hattie could that be a way of finding her?

I would agree from the "Success" title and opening lines of Thomas' update that he got what he desired.

Though there appears to be something slightly dodgy this gameshow host:

and not something to read too much into... or is it?

Ooh, just thought, they might have another genuine reproduction for the next contestant, Dr D...

is Dr D... like he-who-must-not-be-named now, can we not say his name Razz

I thought it was odd that he mentioned she looked like hattie...a very extraneous detail if it didnt have any relevance. Of course it could just be a red herring.
