OMIGOD! Not the FTP! Please... put the FTP down and step away from it slowly...
Sorry... but seriously, the prevailing opinion seems to be to avoid FTP for the moment and that the PMs will give us a clearer indication if they want us to go fishing there. (See pertinent thread here .)
(Although I agree that it's a bit frustrating looking for a key in this memo when we don't even know for sure what lock if any we need to try it against... and I agree that FTP is a lock I'd like to wiggle a couple of keys around in but... maybe we wait on that a bit longer.)

Thanks, crazy post there.
It just seems totally right to use a password and name from the memo for HIS company's FTP.
Some people in that post cautioned we will know when we need to do it, well, that memo points that way, eh?
Or not...

The memo talks about disks that were supposed to be destoyed as the place the important data is stored. If the memo talked about the files being kepts in a "secure" website or fileserver, then this would be a different ball game.
Hopefully those disks were not destroyed and they will find their way back to us.

If this memo holds a password for what?
The FTP? I can't find that in these posts, and just wondering.
Also, if the weird looking punctuation is not the key, then I agree it has to be something easy. Network people tend to make passwords easy for people, so they dont forget. The initials and a number for example are a good guess.
One of the problems is that we don't know where the password should be used. If we did, it would be a little easier, because we could try out our attempts and see if they pass/fail. Right now, it's all spec, and we're basically just collecting possibilities...

Maybe we should be asking the dreadhouse webmaster (jc?) if he has the disks along with the memo? I know that's kinda obvious, but you never know. And how did he get his hands on that anyway? Did he pull it out of the garbage?

From http://fngeeks.net/urbanwiki/index.php/DH_There :
1 - sent to me anonymously with contents leading me to believe they were from someone inside TT
4 - sent to me anonymously as part of same package with item one

I sent an email to him asking if he received anything else with the 'memo' earlier today.
No answer yet.

Or what if at TT the convention is that we use the initial letters of the Subject: field in a memo? That would give us RATM, or RAM if we disregard the lower case letter. (And incidentally - why is "After" capitalized? It's a preposition, not a word you would traditionally capitalize in a title. That strikes me as odd.)
I agree with herichon. I would spec that RAM or RAtM is the more likely place to find the password. The wording of the memo isn't awkward. I printed it out in high quality and see only generous - but not inappropriate - punctuation.
So, where would a company "hide" a password - simply. In the subject line. The capitalization is awkward and inconsistent/inappropriate, and the wording is likewise awkward.
So, without other leads, I'm thinking it's RAM.

Enclosed are several diskettes that contain the m aterials that you
requested just after our staff meeting earlier today.
Please be advised that, due to the e xtremely sensitive nature of
these files, JS has given me the t humbs up to assign an access password. You will find it in the u sual manner.
Finally. please remember that the s ource, contents, and password
are to be considered private and confidential - return everything

Thank you, and regards.

METUS didn't make sense until I tried googling and then language seach.
Look it up in Latin and then start laughing.
I'm not home so I cannot try it on the Webmaster tools.
