*shivers* oh god, please don't... the horrors...

But honestly, is promoting the game in other forums considered bad form? Because I was thinking of telling all of the EE kiddies who are without amusement, but it seems kind of like a faux pas to just go in and be like, "HEY CHECK THIS OUT!!!1!11oneeleven!"

EDIT: DEFINITELY not grassroots. http://www.hurtstoheal.com/commune/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=98 (A&E's been busy lately, huh?)

I'm also going to start PMing all of the people saying "ARG" and tell them TINAG.

I was going to suggest people finding one of those web sites where you can get a small set of free business cards and planting them all over (restaurants, libraries, etc) but I'm sure shipping on those is a little longer than we have...

Although I'm pretty sure it's not grass roots because of the look and feel, unless I either (1) see the advertising for myself, or (2) know somebody PERSONALLY that has seen the advertising, I'm not buying it.

The people that have posted the info from the ads... we don't even know if they're real people at this point.

Okay, maybe I'm a fuddy-duddy or something, but this thing kinda creeps me out for some reason. I don't like the level of manipulation that's going on and I've never really liked the homocidal maniac movies. It's really hard for me to role play this, I guess, because I refuse to let people blame me for their insanity or place responsibility for their actions on me in RL, so it doesn't really amuse me. I'll lurk for a while and see what happens. Have fun!

Both are lofty goals.

I saw this earlier in the thread, but looking at anotherpilotdwn's blog reminded me, and it seems there was an immediate fracture over this. Just so you know, this is a logocal fallacy called false dichotomy. It presumes that there are only two choices available. You prove the fallacy by finding a third (or more) alternative. In this case, the alternative is ... both. In other words, pursuing one option doesn't mean the other can't be attempted as well. And there may be further options that haven't been thought of yet. Trout away.

Thanks for the info pancito, that was my immediate reaction (to do both) on reading the Doc's statement. I'm not entirely sure if it was a simple turn of phrase or carefully crafted to create "sides" within the group, either way it's good that folks are reminded that we are being studied/influenced by Doc.

New

First ARG ever. Looks interesting to get into. My name is Rayne. Found this site by searching ARG (after learning about ARGs though the phreak615 thing that's annoying many in Canada) and spent the past (Gawd knows) reading 23 pages (and links). Anyway, I've signed up and joined the forum as Brains.

Incidentally, this is my first post at unforum. So, hey how's it goin'?

Welcome to the club!

This is an addictive sort of thing - just be warned.

Another alternative could be to locate the doctor and stop them by alerting the authorities or similar.

This guy "Eulogy" seems to be in game as well, but to the same extent as "Conan." They seem in-game, yet are not confirmed. He made a real weird post.

I'm not sure if "Eulogy" is in game or not, but he is quoting a song from that band Tool. Eulogy is also the name of a different song on the same CD.

So one way or another, the guy is a Tool fan.

There's a Blue Elephant pub in Simcoe, Ontario but am not sure it's a match. I think it's unlikely to be the gallery in Frederick as it wouldn't have been cold enough to wear gloves in MD the last week. http://www.blueelephant.ca/vtour/vtour.html
