Bingo, it was stegged, oh damn, looks like the doc is taking recruitment seriously:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Remove one day for each day that achieves less than 50. Clean repeat ip's and test each address for validity using php script.

In case of failure, conscious electrocution - live and replay feeds.

Watch geographic coverage, add diffculty at noteworthy vacancies.

They do not believe I will act in accordance with their fulfilments. They'll see soon enough just how serious I am. So Serious.

I think that's a pretty clear message to quit with trying to locate and warn this girl, as it's taking too much of our effort and time. We need to devote ourselves 100% to recruiting in any way we possibly can. We only have until the 30th - and that may change if we don't get fifty a day - to do this.

That said? I think this is really asking a helluva lot. The time limit on Task #1 is already short enough as it is, and taking away days is only going to hurt us. I don't really think this is all that fair of the PM(s?) to expect us to get that many people in such a short time, especially when they'll be taking more and more time from us if we fail to get fifty people a day involved.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure if we still have until the 30th. We may have already lost a day, I'm not sure.

At least that explains why the date is now 04/30/2008.

50 a day, this kinda sucks.

A suggestion to boost our numbers, anyone that can register from different places say Home and Work, or Home and School or Home Work and The Library. We could pump up numbers that way and still have unique IPs.

Good plan, Internet cafes, coffee shops, but being careful about registering multiple accounts from the same place, remember the docs warning: http://www.hurtstoheal.com/commune/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=58

Damn at this rate it'll be starting on Monday!

If it starts at all? What if we don't get the required number of participants? Do you think hell just end the experiment? The Doc sounds pretty adamant on having a certain number of ppl in this "study"

Let's get to it ppl!

Although the premise of the ARG is a good one, I do not like being forced to do the PM's dirty work and do aggressive recruiting for him and his "experiment".

He's asking for upwards of 400-500 people to sign up on his forum in little time. That's ludicrous, to be honest, and should not be a requirement for execution of the game. Yeah, if the game is cool I might ask people to come in, but I should not be forced to bring people in blindly when the game hasn't technically started yet.

If he wants users so badly, he should do it his own damn self like the rest of us.

Sorry guys, I'm still in on this game... I just don't feel comfortable with the initial methods. Yes, recruit all you want, but it should not be a requirement and there should not be a penalty if it doesn't meet his personal expectations.

On a side note, let the record show that (1) I am apparently upsetting the doctor with my commentary, (2) I am being "watched" by said doctor, and (3) he knows my name (he's been looking me up, apparently).

We are all part of this experiment, apparently. I have my opinion of it, just as everyone else does, and I trust that my opinion will add an addtional angle of information to the doctor's research. But, suffice to say, I am not doing any recruitment personally.

Do not let my opinion detract from what all of you are doing; if he wants his recruitment, you're welcome to do it. Just because I disagree doesn't mean you all have to agree with me.

Oh I completely agree. If the game ends in a few days with an electrocution on You tube I will be very surprised. But hey, if that's what he does we certainly cant stop him.

The sad thing is, If he really posted a Live Conscious Electrocution on the web, it would probably be more popular than "Chocolate Rain" and "Dramatic Groundhog" Combined.

I haven't seen you mention any of your feelings on the IG forum. (If you have then ignore what follows) Which means the "Doc" is browsing this thread, which he is allowed to do, and using info from it IG, Which is against the rules as I know them. Can someone correct me if I am mistaken?

It isn't against the rules per se, but it is frowned upon. While I usually let it go, using it in the manner he is using it seems somehow wrong.

EDIT: Also, I would strongly suggest not futzing with the numbers by registering accounts using different IPs. Unless you plan to keep these accounts active, the Doctor will surely figure out that something is up, and will likely declare Task #1 retroactively failed.

I would rather retroactively fail than just fail up front.

What's the difference? The Doctor isn't a moron. He'll figure out that the numbers have been screwed with and then he'll declare it a failure. I sincerely doubt, given the number of alts that would have to be registered, that people would be able to keep them active for long enough to keep this girl alive throughout the study period. There's no point in doing it if the Doctor is just going to figure it out two or three days in and declare it a failure.

Sorry for the double post, but there's a new post from the Doc over at the Sanctuary of Ethics.

The Doctor wrote:
Well, I have watched and made the influences I've seen fit. It is all you now.
Our friend and I have an appointment, and I doubt you can break it.

The next time we talk, things will be a lot more real.

Have a lovely, untroubled weekend.

Doc.
