Ok, got a bit of new email information for you all.

First, I emailed Alice with a DES incrpytion using the symmetric key we were given, this was the reply:
Quote:
Think simple, my friend.Take a look from another angle.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My guess is that I used the wrong encryption algorithm. the ascii code is for "space" my guess is that we are going back to an outer space theme, I shot Alice another email with a few prompts on what the algorithm could be, twofish, crab, mars, or mercury. Hopefully I will hear back about that and maybe open up a dialouge with Alice.

Second I emailed Sean Browne (Davids glory hogging co-worker) and named dropped Power Patio. I recieved this reply:
Quote:

Good evening,

I am very please to hear from you. Peter Power is a loyal and valued customer here at Identicyption and it is a pleasure to correspond with any friend of his. It is always nice to hear of good things from current clients. Our website is currently experiencing some difficulties and our chief Computer Systems Analyst is currently out of office which is why we are experiencing a delay getting back online properly.

I'm afraid Mr. Dunne is extremely busy at the moment due to this. There are also some upperlevel managment meetings and manouverings going on in the company and all of his resources are on this at the moment. If I can help you in anyway however I would be very pleased to do so. Failing this you can contact Mr Dunne's PA Ms. Leah Marks at lmarksSPLATidenticryption.com. I am sure that she will be happy to help you with an queries.

Regards,
Sean Browne

I tried to butter him up (apealing to his glory hogging nature trying to find out what was going on... His reply:
Quote:

Well, I live to help! I hope that Ms Marks can accomodate you fully in this matter.

As for the website down, I'm not at liberty to say much other than all secure information is safe. It was caused by a deliberate sabotage by an internal employee and an investigation is currently underway. I have every confidence that Mr Dunne will deal with the matter firmly.

Regards,
Sean Dunne

I've also emailed Ms. Marks hoping to get a hold of Dunne himself, but have yet to hear back. Sounds like Identicryption is hot on Davids trail and we don't have much time before they close the net around him... Heres hoping our rabbit is more of a fox because I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. Not sure Sean is much more of a source... He seems bound in what he can and can't say, and im not sure wat to say to Dunne if I work my way up to him. Any luck with the poem?

I've got nothing, but I have a long class tonight, so I'm going to write it down and stare at it for a couple hours and see if anything clicks. Maybe music will be my muse...

*Edit to avoid double-post* What's Sean's email account? Because I bet that it's the same format as Bruce's, in which case we can rule out any account name permutations. I assume it's sbrowneSPLATindenticryption.com? In which case we know that we're trying to hack rdunneSPLATindenticryption.com

Also, who else noticed and laughed at the PM slip-up (writing Sean Dunne instead of Browne)? I almost got really excited when I read it, thinking OMGZ, HYPER-CLUE< SEAN BE SON OF BRUCE!! And then reality caught up and tweaked my ear a little bit.

On page 35 of alice's evidence, you see two pages of code and I noticed there that is repeated several times on the page....maybe alice is telling you to take another look at that page for answers maybe?

Heard back from Jennifer:
Quote:
Look can't really go into detail, things are getting fucked up! I arrived home tonight to find my fecking house on fire??? I was out with Max looking for Karen, We don't have the whole picture on whats going on but here's what I know:

Davids gone missing
Karen too
and now i suspect that i'm next on the list
The link between the three of us is Identicryption from what I can work out.....
Be careful about getting involved with this, Max reckons Identicryption is part of a whole bigger thing

Max has taken things into his own hands and is trying to track down Karen on his own. He seems to know more than he is letting on so maybe you should try contacting him?

I'll try to contact you again if I find out any more info...but I may have to go into hiding, therefore I will be unable to send emails but I will try to contact you in another way........

So she's pointing to Max, who knows more than he's letting on ... might this be our Alice? On a related note, who the hell is Max?

Edit: So, it turns out Max is Max Stapleton; he's MadMax on Aftermath08. He's also in the family tree on Page 30. At the risk of carrying the Alice In Wonderland thing too far: curiouser and curiouser...

Thought I had Alice's new puzzle beaten, but no such luck... So no one else goes down the same wrong trail as I:

I thought that maybe she was pulling the same tricks as she did in her last riddles, I See = IC, and Is was actually I plural, or eyes. So that seemed like a good start, it's four words, there's two in your head. Sight isn't mentioned up on the list of senses, so I tried eyessight, but that wasn't it. But then I thought maybe she left out punctuation, made it harder on us. Eyes not to look, a lot like hell, you know? Being blind must seem like hell when it first happens, and Eyes not to seem as though were dead, blind eyes are kind of dead.

But blind eyes isn't the answer either.

I'm flat out of gas on this one. Anyone coming to any conclusions from my failed attempts?

Don't feel bad, for the first three days I thought David and Karen were together, lol.

I am not getting anywhere either, just guessing four and five letter passwords. No luck yet. The poem is driving me crazy though.

Ok I got a new message from Alice in regards to the symmetric key
Quote:
Symmetry is when you see
With idle curiosity
That back to front or inside out
The thing is never turned about
Vitruvian simplicity
Forget about technology
Just work the key a little round
And turn that frown upside down

So I think I have been being dumb about this by trying to be to smart. I think what needs to be done is invert the text, hold it up to a mirror, or something to see what is being said. Pretty simple, I just don't have time at the moment to crack it.

Also, I got in contact with Max... The guy is pretty distraught:
Quote:
Listen, I don't know what sort of game you think you're playing but my wife is missing and I will do anything in my power to get her back - so if you work for them... believe me, you'll regret the day you ever messed with Karen Stapleton.
What do you want with Karen and David? And who is Alice?
It's got to a stage I can't tell friend from foe any more.... Do you really think you can help me?

I've sent him another email trying to convince him of my good intentions... The guy sounds really alone/freaked out/angry. I hope I don't sound greedy by saying this, but it might be best if we go through a single point of contact with him. If someone thinks they can do it better than me, ok you're welcome to it, but I would really like to try and buddy up with this guy... Or am I missing the point of the game? (Remember I'm new to this)

EDIT: Here is the symmetric key so nobody has to go digging through forum posts for it
Quote:
;3.^!.IV.>l()0'l;.

If I'm not mistaken, you can rotate the code 180 degrees and it looks to say in leet-speakish:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
LOOK ALIVE!

Not sure what to do with the ;. at the end, but hopefully that helps.
ETA - that does give us our four and five letter words and seems to fit the riddles. Now, what is the user name we need and the exact form of the password?

Yeah you're on the right track, I noticed that too when i flipped it around, which is what Alice is trying to say. Those are the two words we are looking for, now just how to we go about walking it through the gate with Bruce?

!!!, I THOUGHT OF LOOK ALIVE!!! It's actually written on the page I was brainstorming on, but I didn't think it was right, and just sort of ignored it.

Curse my lack of trust in my gut instincts.

I think 'walk it through the gate with Bruce' means that it's Robert "Bruce" Dunne's password, his name is on pg. 11 of AE, we just need his log-in name.

i don't think "rdunne" is his username, because it doesn't work with either "lookalive" or "alivelook". sorry, i know that's probably a feeble amount of effort on my part, haha.

I've been trying various combinations of rdunne, bdunne, rdunneSPLATidenticryption.com, bdunneSPLATidenticryption.com with lookalive ... no go. I suppose the password could also be Lookalive, LookAlive, LOOKALIVE ... if we take case-sensitivity into account, we may not even quite have the password.
