Flaming Hobo's? Hilarious. That's the greatest goddamn thing I've ever heard.

The scene is in the movie, but it's better seen in the making of cloverfield special effects extra when Clover's muscles are all highlighted in oragne, but there's a scene where Clover goes over a building and descends down onto the street. I think at times, Clover is using his underbelly arms to literally crawl around. Using it's squid like underarms, it has the potential to move around a lot more quietly.

not sure if he can move around on them, but they definitely aren't arms. they're a set of external esophagi used for feeding. "people suckers" as folks around here like to call them. they're certainly arm-like, but they end in these weird, conical, mouthy openings. google the neville page interview, and he talks rather enthusiastically about it. there was actually going to be a scene where clover was devouring people with them, but for some reason, they cut it.

edit: i'm a fan of the theory that clover's tongue can do some damage. granted, he is friggin huge, but his teeth seem more suited for capture than slicing and dicing. i'm picturing an angler fish and the like... the only animals with those long, thin, needle-like teeth use them more as a cage than for actual biting. just a thought.

Aside from all the people sucking, the Cloverfield monster is a ninja.

Stealthy indeed.

You can see it on the bonus DVD that comes with some copies bought at Best Buy. It's basically an upper torso cast of TJ as a corpse. It's pretty detailed considering it only appears in a few frames.

If you're lucky, there may still be some available at Best Buy to purchase. Make sure to check, because not every copy at BB has it. However, early word is that those copies are starting to become scarce. No surprise, considering TJ's video diary is absolutely hilarious. Smile IMHO it's the best extra they shipped.

There might be other sources -you- could -tube- out and find it, but if you're planning on buying the DVD anyway try to grab one with the diary on it.

Did you really try and hide "youtube" in there?

No, I basically spelled it out. Rolling Eyes Smile I'd rather see the work and effort put into getting the extras out to us paid for, and I don't know if it falls into the gray area of "illegal copies" or not. Still, as said before it may not be possible to buy it now, so online may be the only option.

On that note, Dennis over at CloverfieldClues.com is already posting links to online versions in this article:

I had to watch that scene a couple times for it to make sense. It doesn't sneak up, actually. You can hear the footfalls as Hud dives back for the camera. They might sound like bombs, but there's a distinct break in the sounds of planes and explosions before the thuds are heard.

The combination of the shock and distraction of surviving a helicopter crash along with the monster's HUGE stride length that lets MGP get the drop on our characters. In the four or five steps it takes for him to come up, no one is looking up in that direction. Rob and Beth are looking down, and Hud's focused on the camera. When Rob and Beth look up, Hud has his back turned, and that's when MGP settles in over him.

So am I the only one who thinks that the DVD version had a lot more detail than the theatre version?
