Who else felt sorry for MGP?
Its so true, they added so much detail to him...

Even after the first time I saw Cloverfield, I felt so sorry for Clovey/MGP. I mean, what, he wakes up after thousands and thousands of years of sleeping (I'm going with the prod notes not manga), and destroys a oil rig and heads towards NYC, not knowing what hes going towards.
Gets there, is really confused so breaks the head off the statue of liberty and throws it, and destroys an oil tanker.
Then heads inland, starts chomping people up, obviously is confused as to what they are. Had bright lights all over him, and moves his tail and destroys a bridge.
Just walking around the city when he gets bombarded with bullets, rockets and fire, which is a pretty big shock and obviously stings. For the next 6 hours just gets completely hammered with bombs, and the final blow is a nuclear bomb (or 2?) and you can hear him scream in pain.

I just felt so sorry for this thing, it never actually did anything to us, except walk on our land. You can see during the film how confused he is, like in the part where they are going from Beths apartment building to the safer building, the second time that the camera turns to see the monster, you can see him turn his head back and scream at the bomb as to say "Fuck off! What'd I ever do to you?" and when they are running to the evacuation point, and he screams (and we see a clear shot of his face) he also turns around as if to say the same thing again. And the horrible screams when he gets hit by the nuclear bombs....

Is anyone else with me?

Yea gotta admit there are times in the movie where i feel his screams are more like crying . I agree, think he comes on land confused and maybe hyped up on SBN, starts throwing a tantrum , but when the military shows up and attacks from all sides, he seems more like hes trying to get away and the military is all around him. Dont know if i can feel sorry for something that kills that many people tho. Is it any different than an anteater and ants, do you feel sorry for the anteater cause hes probably getting stung like crazy. Just nature kinda. Now i know theres a big difference from a human dying and an ant, but was just trying to put it into perspective

Looks like some cried in theater LOL

Nah, seriously, you make a good point: he's like a bull on the loose, or a bear. Trapped in, confused. It gave the movie a different atmosphere than godzilla.

Yeah Godzilla was kind of like...ok...giant lizard enters NYC, and kills everyone. Kill it.
Cloverfield was sorta like, giant sea monster enters NYC, and kills everyone out of confusion. Its trying to get away, kill it. Dont direct it back to the sea...just kill it.

So you mean to say you are easily carried away with an agitated baby Monster who wreck and kill thousands of lives?

Even if acted in instinct, I still dont get carried away with it.

Are you a member of PETA or something?

Oh, it's very gay.

The gentleman that started this post officially gets his man card revoked.

Feel bad for the monster...my goodness. Your new name is pussy-boy.
