The gif image is 1045x969 pixels, as has been mentioned, with none of these numbers in the chart going past 600.

You may be onto something, Piper, but I hope it isn't THAT complicated....

EDITed due to my lack of reading everything.

It also makes me wonder about pixels on a screen, since that's how you used to have to make pictures on computer screens. You'd specify "put a red pixel at (34, 66), and then a blue one at...

working on that now

Awesome, natas Very Happy Numbers were never my strong point.

I noticed something else that's potentially trivial.

Don't the boxed in areas seem a bit out of place in this picture?

the list of numbers almost reminds me of the code on the back of the Declaration of Independence in National Treasure... but i think the whole pixel theory is much closer to the truth given the size of the GIF

lol I was thinking the same thing. But being that there isn't a book that had that many lines per page, that can't be it....

OK, finally made it back to a computer. Good work everyone. Now as for the numbers, are we sure those are decimal points and not commas? If they are commas, then each row could be used to draw a line segment, like
(166,255) to (211,42).

I'm halfway done and really not seeing a pattern, I wonder if I'm doing it right. I wonder if I'm supposed to use the number to the left of the dash as the x coordinate and the one to the right as the y coordinate.

Arghhh #$%^%

I'm with Toasty -- they look like "Plot a line from X1,Y1 to X2,Y2" to me. I'd try it but I'm at work...

Good thinking, MrToasty!

Looks like it could form quite a picture. And the plane is probably the gif.

EDIT: Currently downloading some digital graph paper software (since I don't have any lol). Hopefully connecting the listed dots'll go somewhere.

Ok, I (by sheer coincidence, have plotted a picture this way, The black dots are the first set of numbers on the left of the dash. The red dots are the 2nc set of numbers on the right of the dash. Here it is:

lol That's wierd. I just plotted something exactly like that, but it's upside down. Either way, I think we're on the right track:

I personally like natas' better, though.

Looks like it could be overlaid on Grandad's letter to match up letters for an anagram.

Actually, it crosses out letters that I'm guessing we'll use. The only strange one is the long line.

ETA

First paragraph seems to say 'YOU MUST FIND THE TREE'
Second says 'KEYS TO OPEN GATES OF CAGES' ?

Hmm, I could decipher
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
keys and gate
but what looks like an underline is losing me.
