Wouldn't it be funny if we got Ron fired? No seriously, the way he keeps speaking about the bosses looking over his shoulder or monitoring his email, that could actually happen.

Except I don't know much about website building - maybe there are some things on that disk you can share with me to build a fan site.

That's great! Hopefully, he'll fall for it!

Wish I could be so happy about that. I have a second job on most weekends. The job is nice, but the parking situation is a bitch. However, finding email from you always brightens my days. Hope to hear from you soon. Good luck with the updates.

I was re-reading it this morning and after the secret message paragraph I wondered if he would think the entire message had the same code....but it appears I accidentally do that in the last paragraph.

WITHHG - will he think that means With Hugs??? I dunno. Regardless, even if he does, that's even better. Wink

Excellent Job with all the e-mails you guys, however Wishi does bring up an interesting point. Ron has brought up in at least a couple of his e-mails now that his superiors are watching him very, very carefully. I think it's safe to say that at TT, they scan their company e-mail, therefore, if they find that Ron is talking about anything that is the least bit confidential, then they could terminate him. It seems as though your innocent flirtations have gone well, and you seem to have most of his trust. This may not be a bad time to ask Ron for some "Alternate Contact Info" such as an e-mail address or even a phone number.

Considering the slight friendship that you guys have gained with him, he may not mind being an informant since he's stated before that he's not all to fond of his company. (Although he is lucky to be there)

So, he wants to keep his job, for the sake of having it and making money. however he seemingly doesn't agree with the company's ethics or morale.

I'd friend him up... but I'm kind of a cold fish... Trout

Contacting Ron outside of TT

Hence the inclusion of this in my last missive:

Quote:
Would it be easier if you had a different email for our chatting? Did you know I have a blog? It's called HeartHeather.

Well, I did leave a voice message with my phone number. To date, no one has reported receiving any return phone calls from any in-game character, is that correct? But it's still early in this game (really, only about 3 weeks old now).

I'm not sure if "chatting" is going to be part of this game. Too many recent ARGs utilized that mode and it limits the interactions to very few players. Emails are something that anyone playing can use (whether they are playing in a group or as individuals). The PMs can choose to ignore info from players that would be akin to announcing "this is a game" - or other attempts to disrupt (that happend in CTW, and I think Acheron and AWARE). So far there has been no indication of "chatting" in this game (and, personal preference, I hope there won't be).

I also agree. However, this time around e-mail seems to proove just as complicated. I've e-mailed many characters in this ARG for example ron, Sandra Brown, the webmaster at UM, DH and CMH... no responces from any of them.

Laughing

The only one who is responding to my emails has been Ron. I guess I have a way with computer geeks? Wait until we get to the part where I send him a picture (yes, I post the same picture on the board). That's where a lot of fun started in CTW (when I flirted with Bruce).

I've never gotten anything from 'jc'.
And Amanda only sent me the form reply.

We GOT something.

Hi Gordy,

I just wanted to let you know that I have been putting the finishing touches on
the Urban Hunt website update, which should be posted some time tomorrow, if
everything goes right. Next on the list are some changes to the Tomorrow's Talk
site, so keep your eyes peeled for an update there soon too. Once these are
done I can hopefully stop working these long hours.

Speaking of the Tomorrow's Talk website, I haven't found out anything else about
the barcode-like image on the site yet. But I did stumble across some CD's
stashed away in a storage area when I was looking for some supplies. They
caught my eye because they had the hand-written title "Webmaster Tools", so I
pulled them out and took them to my desk. I thought they might have some of the
source files or archives from the old Tomorrow's Talk website or information
about the previous webmaster but I haven't been able to get anything off the
one I had time to check yet.

I went ahead and posted the file on a temporary page I made up quickly before
heading out of here tonight. Maybe you'll be able to do something with it.

Here's the link: http://www.tomorrowstalk.com/webmastertoolfiles.html

It is late and I'm out of here.

Similar information (about the disk).
Here is my email from Ron, and my reply. Guess he didn't catch the message about DreadHouse.com, and he didn't get the hint about a different email (and I checked the source code of the link he gave). So I also re-quoted the important part of my previous email.

Hi Heather,

Damn, it got late quickly. Almost 9PM and here I am still at work. I couldn't leave without answering your e-mail though. Wink

It's funny you ask about encryption, over and above the encrypted file from the disc I found. I actually have a fascination with puzzles of all types and have even tried to use some of that in my various web design projects. But I really don't have time to go into that now. I have to get out of here soon. Brooklyn isn't somewhere you want to be wandering around too late at night, if you know what I mean.

Take care and write me back soon.

Hi Ron,

Hope you got home safe and sound. I got to the link you gave me and
tried to open the files. Darn if it wasn't encrypted.
Do you think there is any way to find out who put the encryption on
the disk? Even though I'm starting to think that these are not going
to be appropriate for my fansite. Now, perhaps they are about some
reality tv show? Maybe I can ask some friends to help out? Some of
them are also good at puzzles. Given enough information, they can probably figure out any encryption.

We need to talk about something and I don't think it belongs in a
company email. I have some capital ideas, if you can read me.

Stay safe and sound. Be careful (I've never been to NY but I do watch
a lot of tv so I've seen a lot of real and fiction about the dangers
in the city).

*kiss*

My email to Ron...

Quote:
I'm glad you told me you're enjoying my emails, because I've enjoyed
receiving your emails too. I was starting to worry that you might
think I'm a weirdo email stalker or something!

So do you really think there's something up with the executives there?
I hope they aren't acting strange because there's a problem with
Urban Hunt's production. I'm still really hoping I'll be chosen to be
an online advisor. Maybe the buzz isn't as big as they hoped? Have
there been alot of videotape submissions from hopeful contestants? I
was considering sending in a tape of myself, but then I noticed that
they are no longer accepting tapes. Oh well Smile I fit the description
of the ideal candidate pretty well - "over 18, like adventure, love to
travel and could use up to a half a million dollars", but I'm a little
camera shy. But I guess for a half a million I could overcome that
pretty quickly. Wink

And the execs are looking at you strangely? Well it *could* be just
your imagination, but you never can be too careful. But I guess as
long as you know you're not doing anything wrong, there shouldn't be
anything to worry about right? Have you been there long enough to
have some leverage? Ahh, look at me getting involved in *your* office
politics. I guess I miss working in an office more than I thought!

Hope you don't have to work too much this weekend! - I'll be lounging
near a campfire for most of the weekend, soaking up the outdoors. Smile

His reply, which is much like kona's and XyzzySqrl's ...

Quote:
Hi Varin,

Don't worry yourself about the production of Urban Hunt, the reaction to our
Contestant and Online Advisor hunt has been overwhelming. They actually stopped
accepting the Contestant applications earlier than planned because of the
tremendous response. I wish I could give you some inside info about the Online
Advisor position but I really don't have anything to share with you except that
I think they are going to begin contacting potential Advisors soon.

As you can tell, I've been working late again tonight. I have been putting the
finishing touches on the Urban Hunt website update, which should be posted some
time tomorrow, if everything goes right. Next on the list are some changes to
the Tomorrow's Talk site, so keep your eyes peeled for an update there soon
too. Once these are done I can hopefully stop working these long hours.

In each email he specifically mentions that "Webmaster tools" catches his eye. Perhaps this is a clue....

I'm not so sure abou that, dish. He's a webmaster, so it's logical (at least to me) that a CD labeled "Webmaster Tools" would catch his eye.
