Bungie has kept the Halo 2 storyline on the double-downlow lockdown, and perhaps the result of this ARG will just be the release of the storyline that leads up to the game. Perhaps other Halo 2 teasers and info will be released as a result.

Bungie likes to give their hardcore fans bones to chew on while they continue to wait... and wait... for Halo 2 to come out. Maybe this thing was thrown together to help bridge the gap between when the game should have been out and when it's actually coming out.

Either way, I think this game was designed for hardcore Halo fans and ARG players all the like. As far as casual Halo fans are concerned, I'm sure all the Halo info that is gathered as a result of ILB will be readily available when the game is released, but this might be a waste of time if you think you're getting a demo, cuz you're not.

I realise that as I'm not a HALO fan, nor know (umm, knew, heh) a lot about the background and previous stories, I might be here with different expectations, thus "turning out to be nothing" probably means something else to me than it does to others. If you are just here waiting for a HALO2 demo to be released on the 24th, I'd say it would be best to stop wasting your time, because Bungie have made it pretty clear there will not be a demo, nor an early release.

What I'm hoping for is that this will turn out to be a full-swing ARG, with lots of puzzling and lots of uncovering of interesting storyline and much exciting interaction. I do not think so many Halo fans were lured here to follow something that is entirely unrelated, so the storyline involved with ILB will most likely have strong ties to the HALO universe and might very well be an "introduction" to the HALO2 storyline. If that is the case, I think there will be enough easter-eggs and nice little facts for info-hungry fans to keep satisfied.

Oh and I wouldn't bet on tomorrow being a 'big date', I think we'll get something to keep us busy until the 24th, maybe a new SPDR e-mail or something along those lines. I still think august 24th will be game-launch, and everything before that just pre-game... just my humble opinion though Smile

Yeah. I'm going with your opinion that this is just the pre-game, to set us up for the real game. Perhaps the real game is stopping the AI(s) after the countdown? Something like that. But, I have a feeling that there will be another countdown before the 24th, mainly because that's a pretty long time to go without adding something on, unless it's a major turn-around, or really large addition. Either way, I think that something's going to happen before then. Also, it's probable that the PM's want this to be a good one, and if the players start to get bored of it before the next update, like the one waiting for tommorow, then some people might leave, forget about it, and so on. I'm hoping that they have something planned for if we solve everything in this update too quickly.
