So would have played this, but I was away so only just caught up on it. Anyone think it's worth while still requesting an invite? Or maybe I could go for sous-chef?

Cool, just sent this:
Quote:
My Dear Mr Wadsworth

I understand, from my society connections, that your employer is planning a forthcoming festivity? I appreciate at this late stage in planning you will have foreseen all requirements, and procured suitable staff and amenities, however, should you find yourself under-prepared for any eventuality, please find my resources at your disposal.

UHEC have catered for many extremely successful society events, you may have heard of the resounding plaudits of the Cumertons Christmas party, or perhaps the Leighton-Howe's wedding last year? We are discrete, efficient, and above all extremely trained to deal with any eventuality, so please do not hesitate to contact me should you require anything.

Yours
############
CEO, UHEC

EDIT: Got a reply:
Quote:
While your offer has reached my employer's ear too late to accept your exact offer, seeing as we have already contracted our catering needs elsewhere, it has come to my attention that the maid has terminated her employment unexpectedly. If you have any members of your corporation who might be able to fill this void, please let me know accordingly. Otherwise, I have added your contact information to the rolodex for future engagements.

to which I replied:
Quote:
Dear Wadsworth

I am delighted to acquiesce and provide one of my employees to replace your errant maid. One Miss Candice Frobbinger is ideal I surmise, she is a diligent lass, quite pleasing to the eye, and although not too bright she is always keen to please and follows instructions to the finest detail.

I am happy to provide her on a one week trail, and should her service meet Mr Boddy's requirements we can then discuss contracts.
Yay I get to play and cross dress too! Twisted Evil

Ms. Frobbinger has been presented and accepted by my employer. Please have her expecting further information by mid-week. I graciously thank you for your swift assistance in this matter

Excellent, I'll be the over eager, slightly dim, nubile maid then. Every rich gentleman should have one!! Hope everyone is ready for my lowering the tone to Benny Hillian levels..

Laughing @ ALISDAIRPARK

And...

I returned my questionnaire to Wadsworth and asked when I could expect my background dossier?

Wadsworth wrote:
Mr. Boddy estimates disclosure of backgrounds by Wednesday, but he is a busy man so please be patient. They will arrive with plenty of time left before the gathering.

So maybe by Wednesday, we'll know a little more of what to expect, or what they expect of us.

I just remembered something. If there are only a limited number of "seats" to this engagement, it would be best if I relinquished mine. I leave Wednesday evening again for a month and wouldn't be participating much anyway. So, I'll shoot off an email stating this. Anybody who wants to attend should take my place.
Quote:
I regret to inform you and your host that due to circumstances beyond my control, I will not be able to further participate in your event. I apologize for the mixup and hope you find a replacement soon. Thank you.

His reply:
Quote:
Kind Sir,

I greatly appreciate your advance notice. I hope that all is well and my employer wishes that you will join him in the future.

Humbly,

Wadsworth

Hmm tryed to reply to this earlier, didn't take for some reason so trout me if I am double posting and just not seeing it.

I sent in a mail before noon today

Quote:
was informed by some of my esteemed patients that a Mr. Boddy would be holding a soiree for the creme de la creme, and would love to grace the affair with my presence. Would your master enjoy the company and conversation of a knowledgable physician? Please let me know immediately.

Yours,
Dr. Bart Ock, MD

Wadsworth's reply was pretty similar to others

Quote:
Dr. Ock,

I regret to inform you that this gathering has reached its full capacity. I have kept your contact information, as it would be most pleasant to have you invited in the future. My employer wishes for me to make clear that he would love to have all interested parties attend this event, but the current size of his dinner table unfortunately does not allow for it. Do not fret, there is always another dinner to eat.

Humbly,

Wadsworth

And nothing to follow, so I guess the "table leaves" are all full too.

I'm going to have fun with this.
Has anyone noticed I say that before something really bad happens?

Hmmmm....

this should throw a cog in the machine...
