Unfortunately, I have to go offline in a few minutes while I train some folks, so if we are time constrained on this task, I might not be of much help.

The point of a leader is to direct a team when they aren't able to make decisions on their own. This crew is doing a fine job of investigating, reaching a consensus, and then responding. Giving someone the title of 'leader' only gives the Doc a target to pick on.

Actually, I'm not to keen on that idea myself either. He's dying to have us tear each other apart on our own.

Avatrix--That's exactly what I was thinking especially when reading Night's post.

I second (third? hundredth?) the idea of not having a leader. I absolutely hate feeling like I won't be able to do something because I don't have the *authority*.
I have a feeling this is going to turn out like The Gate Reaction....where after a while, we just played to try to piss off Bowty xDD

And...yeah, I'm more lurking than doing anything at this point, as every time I come to this thread, either a) nothing whatsoever has happened, or b) a thread explosion happened because of a new task being completed.

Again, guys, I'm going to ask that when *official* task #1 starts, let's make a seperate thread for it. It's a lot more organized that way Wink

Well yes and no. There have been a few cases early on when we did not have a plan and sat around on the forum theorizing rather than doing anything. It's gotten better and I don't think we need to pick a leader but we need to keep in mind that Doc's not going to give us time to sit and talk about our feelings on these tasks.

Scavenger Hunt

I know everyone isn't too crazy about the leadership concept, since we don't want to risk splintering the group, and causing an inner conflict within the team. But I think dividing into groups for this new task would be the most efficient way to solve it.

I think there should be something like 3 groups; Team Red Green and Blue or whatever anyone wants to call it. If the list for the scavenger hunt is divided into these three groups, the task would be completed a lot quicker instead of having the what, 120 members all finding the same thing one at a time? It's a waste of our energy, for one. Not to mention, if we fail, there's always the potential wood chipper as punishment.

I really, really think this would be best for this task.

I'll throw in my two cents as agreeing with not having a leader, and also agreeing that the new task should have a separate thread, AND also with the idea of splitting into teams. However, I do think there needs to be some way for us to reach each other in case of an extremely time sensitive task (like the obits)... I wouldn't want to give my phone number out online but I think it might be at least a little effective to add each other on AIM... what do you all think?

Eh. If I'm on my computer to reach aim, I'm generally browsing unfiction as well. Though the idea might work for others, I'd rather not add 100+ people to my aim for this sole task.

Looks like the new task is up. Click on the pic on the frontpage and watch the movie while registering.

Two problems for me:
1) My work computer can't play QT movies
2) I just got called to a meeting

Can we get this saved as a WMV and I check it out as soon as I get back.

Alright, I don't know how to save it, but the basics of the video, is this:

Doc addresses us directly in the video, face to face, and shows us BEX chained in a wheel chair, hooked to an IV filled with drugs that have her in a "happy" state as he phrased it.

His instructions to wake BEX up were to register below the movie, or else the experiment fails.

He also said that the timer begins at midnight tonight, and we have 24 hours from there.

EDIT: Upon registering, you get an image with BEX and I'm assuming Steph, with a skull over her face, called eyedentify. Image came up negative in stegdetect.

Once someone's signed up for the task, can they post what exactly the scavenger hunt is going to require? I don't drive, so anything requiring me to go around the area searching for stuff isn't going to work; I just don't want to commit to something I'm not sure I can pull off.

Thanks

Once you fill out the form you just see a picture saying the task starts at Midnight eastern time. I'm not really sure what we'll have to do yet.

It doesn't give any info regarding the treasure hunt. I'm assuming we'll get it at midnight, or at least, those who have registered will.

I'm going to set up a seperate thread now, specifically for this task.

I registered. And being within a couple hours of the initial suspected location, I am thinking there may be something to drive to. Hopefully I will have some time in the next 24 hours to undertake a drive if necessary, although I am guessing that it won't necessarily be location specific as Doc did originally want a diverse geographic group.

Another Twitter post from BEX. Odd. Does anyone know what she's referring to? Maybe responding to a specific question?

BTW, Doc looks A LOT like the person in the first video for "Bones", which ended up leading us to "48 Hours in Purgatory", as some of you know. Confused
