[Probably a trout] Mister Gorilla Pants I'm probably not the first one to point this out, but I noticed the Monster kind of looks a gorilla:
I'm almost certain it's nothing, but the thought of MGP being a giant mutated gorilla is kind of amusing.

You assume the player is trying to be funny...
But uh, look at the pics. Not too unreasonable. Perhaps the joke is on the part of Tippet, considering JJ's mention of King Kong in his speech at ComicCon.

The sattelite that fell into the ocean was called ChimpanzIII, right? That settles it. Clover is king kong on SBN! Should've posted it in the off-topic though, it's true.

there definitely is something simian about the appearance of clover. as far as movie monsters go, save for kong, it does seem the most reminiscent of a human appearance.

the only think that really makes it seem like a gorilla is in the nature of its walk. i don't think it resembles anything which is why its such a terrible thing to look at. i think it kind of seems like a snake because of hte way its jaw like folds over its face and looks like it might have to un hinge in a way. tou have the think that its jaw would be pretty floppy, or at least the part that covers his face. but then looking at his jaw and then looking at the pictures of the whales on the 1-18-08 site, it makes you wonder how he could make a bite in that shape?

Erm, why?
I'd be interested to know if the designer took influence from certain animals. I know he wanted to make it look like it'd evolved naturally and worked on it using that ethic. I'm just curious if he did want it to look simian-ish.

Even if it wasn't intended, the instant I saw the Cloverfield monster, I said to my friends "It's a motherfucking gorilla with balloons on its face"

Well, I assumed he was just posting useless info again. This info was sparked the first day we found out MGP walked on his knuckles. That was over 3 months ago... so yeah. Old stuff. If you wanna know more, just google Nevile Page, the guy who created MGP.
