Also, just random info related to the ocean and the pictures.

http://www.onr.navy.mil/Focus/ocean/regions/oceanfloor5.htm

Can't find any images of the floor at 10,000 meters, ie Deep Ocean Basin.

Chuai, thus it's the Atlantic. Right?

Hm, the depth on these pictures are BS, in my opinion.

The lowest place on earth, the Mariana Trench, (in the Pacific) is 10,911 M. Yet, on the parasite picture the depth is 10,027 M.

What gives? Are the parasite suddenly chilling at the Mariana Trench?

Oh, and if the parasite picture is in the Atlantic, they really screwed up. The lowest point in the Atlantic is 8,605 M.

Cloverfield 2?? Laughing

"Today, two photos from Cloverfield 2 have emerged from the depths. Is this the sound of the Cloverfield 2 Viral marketing campaign roaring to life? It just might be. Take a look at these black & white photos that seem to show a bunch of baby Cloverfield monsters scurrying across the ocean floor (didn't Abrams say that the original monster was a baby?): "

Dear Christ, I want to strangle this guy.

Yeah, I read that and am just stunned that a 'movie web site' can't get their info right. That should tell you how much they suck. Would someone registered there smack them with a FLOUNDER and point out that those are the parasites? Oh yeah, and tell them that's Chuai Station, so these are events from before even those of Cloverfield. That'd make 'Cloverfield 2' a prequel.

I typed a comment saying the exact same thing. "These are more suited for a prequel"

Hopefully you'll learn the difference between feet and meters, because that's what I suspect they didn't learn. Laughing

Off for free pizza!
I'll take my DVD with me, maybe my friends will want to watch it.

I didn't write that!

I agree with OilMango, movieweb should be obliterated for saying those are baby Clover's.

Btw, how many parasites do you see on the ocean floor?

Ha, if they change the M to FT in the pictures, we'll know for sure whether they monitor uF or not.

Oh, and send me a slice.

EDIT: Oh, and just to officially point out the obvious, there are two submarines in the parasite photo. And my question still stands, who took the photos and why didn't the parasites notice them?

What do you think of this plot point: Why show the parasites on the ground or on Clover's skin. Each picture and message has something important to add: How about this...

Looking at the parasites, it looks like there are only bits and pieces of seabed nectar left. One of the parasites looking at the sub-explorer, is screaming "WHY, WHY DID YOU TAKE ALL MY SEABED NECTAR!!!!"

Clover and company decide to go to NYC because they can sense the seabed nectar that both Clover and the parasites feed on...

Hmnmm...

I don't question that light isn't supposed to penetrate as deeply as they say, but then a rig that's 3/4 of a mile tall with observation decks that low is also pretty improbably if you want to get into real, applied, non-fictional science. We know that absolute scientific accuracy is not the greatest forte' of the PMs. Wink

The Petronius oil platform runs a couple thousand feet tall (610 meters) from the ocean floor, so that part is at least plausible. However, the first photo is taken deeper than that, and the second photo is just at a rediculous depth for any platform to preform at. In either case, the platform couldn't get anything off the ocean floor, oil nor seabed nectar.

But that is not my point. Your observation deck idea is still plausible. With the main well tower above the surface knocked into the ocean, you could easily view them underwater in that fashion. However, this would be the first I've heard of well towers featuring observation decks; they're usually used to support and house flare vents for methane.

For all we know, seabed nectar is MGP's crack. We come in, start sucking it all up and putting it in tasty beverages, it's all gone, MGP suffers from withdrawl and gets all cranky. He's somehow able to track down where it's been going and then follows his nose, smashing things up when he can't find enough of it to get his fix. But I'm sure that's been proposed before many times.

Oops, my bad, deleted the wrong quoter >>; fix'd in this quote though.

Also, I clearly see 9, with Oli's post of the picture, there's ten supposedly.

Thanks to Kenclops, I've come up with a theory.

Clover and Co travel to NYC in search of Seabed Nectar, in return they find people who have Drank Slusho and in turn think it's the same thing so they munch on the peoples.

In the end it's all just a misunderstand.

Cloverfield 2: The Mayor of NYC gives Clover the key to the city in apology.

I still believe the parasites have poor eyesight, honestly. XB And probably just another submarine took the photos.
