What happened earlier? The crashed satellite or the Chaui incident? Those ingame timelines really dont go well with the real life dates.
The satellite crashed somewhere in April, when Rob & Beth visited Coney Island. The party was somewhere in May.
According to the newsbroadcast of Chaui, the incident happened somewhere between 27th and 28th of December.
You would think that the Chaui Incident happened earlier, but on the Tagruato.jp timeline (the headlines) you see the headline about the crashed satellite first. This is too confusing!

From what I understand, January is the equivalent to the movie's May. This means that the satellite would have fell in December our time. I believe the Beth date was on the 27th and compare that to what you know of the sunken station in our time.

You're assuming the Camera's clock is correct all the time.

why wouldn't it be?
Logic would dictate that if the falling debris did indeed wake up Clover, it happened before the Chuai station. But who knows.

Judging from recent discoveries with the usgx site, little details like time and measurements are appearing to be done half-assed. Like how there's nowhere near 10,000 meters deep of ocean in the Atlantic ocean.

Maybe, but the camera in the movie is 100% accurate, and that is what's being discussed here. In late APRIL, the debris crashed. In late December (our time) the Chuai station disaster occurred. And doing some easy math:
January (our time) = May (Clovertime)
so
December (our time) = April (Clovertime)
so the Chuai Station disaster and the Debris falling occurred at very similar times. Hell, might have even been the same day.

Thanks, I was just saying, since the clock disapears a few minutes into the film, and with Hud and Jason messing with it, they could've changed the time accidentally, doubt it though.
I agree with the Idea that Dec = April, Jan = May
But they could've just made it so much easier and changed the clock in the movie to match real dates >>;

Ah But that would mean they would like us and want to prevent our frustration. We can't have that now can we?

If they did that then Rob and Beth's date to Coney Island would have been in December, a time that the park is not only closed, but buried in snow.
Like this
And no one wants the girls in the movie to be hidden under winter coats...

I would think that Chuai Station woke up Clover because I don't think the water around Coney Island is deep enough for Clover to hide, yet the ocean would be much deeper futher away towards Chuai Station.
Also, I think the falling object is a viral tie-in, but unrelated to the monster as if it was that close to land, why venture into deep sea then suddenly turn around and return back to Manhattan after moving away from the closer source of noise. I would think that Clover was out at sea, awaken by Chuai Station, then eventually turned for Manhatten, which is the closest landmass, thus keeping Chuai Station first and the falling object second, though not directly connected to the monster.

Who says it was close to land? If it was huge enough it could have been way out.. it hit near the horizon.
And the extraterrestrial object hit before the Tagruato website mentioned the Chuai incident. the news posts happen in this order
"Yay Tag! our satellite helps the government track something we think may be part of the chimp satellite!"
"Um.. there was an 'altercation' at Chuai.. everythings fine, nothing to see here.."
"Ok.. something BAD happened.."
Note that there is no indication the object that fell was a satellite except that Tag said it might be.. so I refuse to call it such...

via the station video the attack on Chuai happens on the 26th or 27th of december of 07 (the vid has a memo for jan 2 of 2008.).
As for the timelines. Its possible that no one set the clock when they bought the camera. Hence if they bough the camera in April it would say January and always be 4 months off. Or the ARG takes place in 08 and the events in the movie are in 09.
