Hey, y'all?

Can y'all post the monkey and the full e-mail here for those of us who didn't get it? (I've been playing all the e-mails off this board, as I've received nothing via e-mail.)

Thanks.

The email from codemonkey had another picture of monkey......and I didn't add it because it's a huge picture. Opened in notepad said:

Quote:
The first code I've come across that I can't seem to crack. I got this off of a co-workers desk that I KNOW is working on the ARCA project.
http://www.loyolascholarship.org/friends/code.jpg
and message in email said: "This image made me think of Gollum from Lord of the Rings"

When you go to that link, File, select, Open in.....I chose Photoshop, and because of the color scheme, it had to be changed to open it. Here is the pic if you can't open it.

It is coded in semaphore (person with flags) AJGUCV?ZQP

I started getting emails, but have never signed up for anything at red loyola, and I don't think I have ever sent codemonkey an email. So, apparently they took my email from the ones I had sent to Steph.

Yeah, I posted the solution a page pack, believe it is AJGUCVIZQP.
How big is the monkey picture?

Sorry, typo for the A was a Z....and not convinced of the letter I, so I put a ?. I was just recapping for Larry, since he didn't receive the email.
And as far as I can figure out, it won't allow .gif here? When I converted it to .jpg it doesn't save the hidden message. So for those that didn't receive it, it is the monkey above, without the sunglasses and robe Smile

600 x 399, 142kb, .gif

Cool. Wasn't sure if there was more to the monkey picture. With those dimensions, 142k could be a valid size. Not sure, but you could probably rename it to a .txt file or something and attach it - not sure if that works, and again probably not necessary. There is definitely something up with the code image though, just need to spend a little time with it to figure out just what.

I posted monkey pics http://mysite.verizon.net/resyl1tf/id13.html without losing any code, for those who want to see for themselves to make sure we didn't miss anything.

I got AJGUCVNFQP with the (Q) in place of the (O) in the puzzle being a typo. It could also be 1J7U3VN6QP. Take that for what it's worth.

Still working on the "code.jpg" pic itself.

Anyone notice http://www.ecstaticorp.com/ Every paragraph about this company is spelled Estaticorp , not eCstaticorp ? And Home, News, About links at bottom don't work at all for me.

Estaticorp was first established by Charles Garsham in 1987.

I tried substituting Numbers from the phone keypad for letters from semaphore = 254-828-*977 Which ends up in Texas somewhere. So, very doubtful. I also tried shifting keyboard letters but that didnt get me anywhere either. Considering all of the errors thus far, it's hard to believe that this puzzle is correct. If Gollum is related to the puzzle, then that makes no sense, because it's supposed to be a file hidden in estatic's files...monkey pics and the sentence about Gollum, LOTR comes from codemonkey. bleh.

Thing is right now we don't even know how to get at the hidden file; it's not traditional stegdetect, Camouflage or JPHide. It's... something... else.

I'm on it right now. There are seven or eight different tools for stegging, so I'm trying to figure out which one. StegSpy claimed it was Hiderman, but Hiderman said there was nothing there, so I'm moving on.

Yay. I'm thankful for Parallels Desktop today.

I came here to steal Omega's post on how to join IRC for my other ARG....and I notice we are not doing much. Anyone out there?

I also noticed that LOTR's should have been spelled Golem, not Gollum. So maybe another hint or just another mistake, who knows. Maybe we just email codemonkey some random answer...how would he know if its wrong? lol

Still here! Been looking at the file every which way, but I can't make anything out of it. My hunch is that the semaphore code is Vigenere, but I haven't found a key for it yet (tried ARCA, Ecstaticorp, monkey, etc.).

I also think that there might be some actual compiled code within the jpeg file, like Java or C++. I could normally decompile such a thing, but the image's header info messes the program up. Grrr... Confused

I'm stumped. I've gone through every possible program I can get. Anyone have a list of what programs StegSpy identifies as Hiderman? I've looked at The Third Eye and Hiderman themselves, but nothing. I don't know if I have the correct password (I've been trying all the alphanumeric varations of that semaphore) and the wrong program, or if I have the right program and the wrong password.

I also haven't figured out what relevance Gollum has, either.
