Maybe a quick perusal of any relevant panels from SXSW 2008 would suggest some speakers (or half-outsiders who ought to be appraised of our event).
I wonder if any of the four at Grand Text Auto would be interested in addressing the complexities of simpler game systems than Chaotic Fiction.
Are there academic departments of New Ludics that should be alerted to this casual conference?[/url]

I made a suggestion a while back, but it was in this buried post and I wanted to mention it here.
Frank at area/code sounds like he has more stories about developing and running Chain Factor for CBS's "Numb3rs". Is it too late to invite him? We never really got a post-game chat, although they did come from behind the curtain with this thread over on their forum.

I'm still considering whether I'll go to this or not. It's strictly a financial issue, and my wife won't let me go to this alone so I'll have to come with wife and son in tow.

Christy Dena would be great !
I sent her all my stats about The Rivard Project, and I would really like to hear her on a pannel.
I know it may sound strange, but I would like to hear someone speak about a project that went really wrong, or was cancelled, just to see what kind of problems can put an end to a project that was meant to be a great success or at least an original ARG.

After all the questions I was getting from PMs about "why do you play...what do you like in a game....what would make you want to play a game...do you mind product placement...etc"; I thought maybe the PMs would like to see a "player panel" where they can ask these types of questions of ARG players.
The idea sounds pretty cool, but what kind of players would it be? Ones who have never been a PM, ones who have, or a mixture of both?
Also, how would the moderator set up the questions for a player panel?

How about some of the grassroots PMs who made the jump to professional? Similarly, how about some of the professional firms who can talk about developing a portfolio and resume in order to get noticed? There are tons of people who are trying to break into getting paid for making games.

This sounds like something similar to what goes on at Comic-Con - but they aren't panels, but workshops. I agree that this would be a really awesome thing to provide, I'm just not sure if we're "there" yet Definitely something to strive for though!

That would definitely be cool. I'd really love to have the opportunity to sit down with some of them to go over some of the trials and tribulations they have faced - stuff that I may be faced with at some point in the future

Just curious (and because I was talking to one of them today) - have The Beast PMs (other than Elan and Sean Stewart, that is) ever been invited to speak?
Speaking of Elan and Sean - can they not make it this year?

I'll go on the record to say that I'll be happy to talk to anyone about this on a more casual basis while there. If past years are any indication, I'll just grab a corner booth at some restaurant somewhere and talk to whoever drops by, whilst (yes, I said whilst) enjoying various and sundry food and beverage items.
Hmm. Retro-ARGFest Core Conversation, anyone?
