What website? 1-18-08? The only thing that looked dead on that website were the whales. Maybe he just said that because they didn't know any better.

My thoughts exactly, hunter2458. It doesn't mean that Clover was a "only child", so to speak. I seriously doubt that we have heard the last of Cloverfield, I don't care what JJ says. Why would he dash all of our hopes like that? He knows darn well that Cloverfield has a large following; what would be the point for him and Bad Robot to continue the ARG?

It's all lies, I tell ya! LIES! Shifty Eyes

Since I don't see the sword/spiral symbol anywhere in that issue of Rolling Stone, I'm going to declare that comment OOG.

I'm sorry, I just need it to come from a confirmed "in game" source; it's obvious to me this J.J. whoever-he-is is simply trying to subvert the game and give us false information. What does he know about this game anyway?

I know you're joking, but do you really think JJ has ANY hands-on involvement with the ARG? He's off in Star Trek land right now, probably getting a ST trailer ready for Comic-con...

i do not know how much involvement JJ has in the game, but does it really matter if JJ says or thinks Clover is dead (feels so weird to type that...)? The game takes place in a different time, and it's an Alternate Reality, so JJ's words should not change the game, right?

Oooooh... good point! JJ doesn't specify WHEN the military killed him with a bomb. Shocked It could be another attack altogether...

It could make sense though.

The attack on NY takes place nexy year and in the ARG we're still in 2008. So even if the monster is dead, the ARG may continue.

Another thing to consider is Rolling Stone is a bimonthly magazine (published every two months) so I imagine the actual interview took place more than a month ago - certainly before the DVD was released and this second half of the ARG started.

Maybe JJ said that because he didnt want to envolve the movie with the ARG in his interviews, because in all of his interviews i've seen i never seen him mention the ARG once. And anyone who isnt interested in this movie would probally think Clover is dead because they wouldnt bother to stay after the movie and play the audio at the end backwards.

The monster is dead. JJ informed us that the military eventually kills the monster. Clover does not go on to destroy the rest of North America. He does not take over the world. He dies. As for the backwards clip after the credits roll, does it really say "it's still alive", or is that just what we wanted it to say? Didn't the actor who played Rob say it said something different in an interview? I only bring this up because I watch Ghost Hunters every week. Yes, I do understand that it is a horrible show, but I can't stop watching. When they play an EVP, you have no idea what it sounds like until they tell you what the ghost says. Once they tell you that you should be hearing the ghost say "Get out!", you hear "Get Out!". No that I actually believe in that crap, I am just saying.
The whole point is, Clover is dead. JJ didn't say when he dies though. Maybe he made it all the way to Pennsylvania before they killed him.
