Re: [INFO] New Image Text

From CUTEBEE: "Down the stairs / But her legs are very long / Wicked pointed things!"

I've also started to notice that some of these snippets are preceded by numbers. This one has a "Seven" just before the first line of text. Going to go back and check on the others -- that might make it a bit easier to order. Mr. Green

(Wonder if they skipped Three?)

The snippet you're missing looks to be in BEEWITHH: "When the widow"

I'm wrong. Embarassed BEEWITHH has more text: "When the widow was / broken to bits, nobody / seemed very upset."

(No number in this one.)

And they didn't skip three. It's in BUTABOUT: "She spies the flea / Her legs come up, her jaws they / snap. He's in trouble."

A thread has been started in the Puzzle section of this forum for this as well. Keep puzzle-y stuff over there, update stuff here.

A new arrangement of the story:

The Pious Flea

Living in a old castle
Playing hide and seek.
When the widows thin legs
Like needles, click down the hall
The flea goes quite still
She spies the flea
Her legs come up, her jaws they
snap. Hes in trouble.
Flick he leaps, into a crack
She does not go by.
She bites and pop!
It seems theres no more flea: but
There he is again!
She cuts him off
at the conservatory!
But he leapfrogs her!
he skips the hall
Jumping for the great throne room
She comes on behind.
There is the Queen!
Quick he leaps onto her throne
A new friend, says queen.

So, the spider - an autonomous program designed to the restore the queen to health (and conceivably protect the precious data - eg the location of earth - that the queen possesses) notices the flea, and tries to eliminate it. But the flea evades the spider, and reaches the queen, who sees it as a friend.

[Spec], but: perhaps it is here the queen's mission statement changes from "survive, evade, resist, escape" to "survive, evade, REVEAL, escape" (as shown in that big block of overprinted text on the last update). And now the queen has outgrown the spider, it is more inclined to believe the flea, its new counsellor, and perhaps the queen's motivation will ultimately change to seek, evade, reveal, resist. Uh oh.

That sounds pretty probable. Do we have any text which we are -sure- is Melissa (and not Princess) that refers to the Flea directly as an entity? Perhaps Melissa is unaware that she's been infected.

We can't be sure anymore what the SPDR process even is or was either. We have been assuming that it was intended to repair the AI, but what if it is actually the a mangled version of the Cole Protocal process. The AI, infected with the flea, says the spider doesn't understand the law, but instead seems to be deleting memories, trying to erase the AI's data. We could be looking at a combination of covenant infiltration of the main AI, with a badly implimented and failing attempt to delete the AI to protect Earth's location. The AI also 'thinks' it is sane now, but it seems to be a few bricks short of a wall still and is operating only on its most basic core function, with every detail, including who it is and where it came from lost. It has also stripped down to essentials, which means any ethical routines or other non-essential processes where likely abandoned.

This is only getting worse....

Just out of curiosity...why when arranging this did you skip some words, add others and re-order the numbered snippets? Was it to make the story flow better? Because from what I've seen from the first 2 phases, the story will flow just fine if the snippets are kept intact and placed correctly. It's when words get changed or omitted that it becomes more difficult to piece it together correctly. Granted, my thinking may be flawed, which is why I'm asking for your thoughts as to why you did it this way.

Look, guys.

This text is already being dealt with in the PUZZLES thread, because it is one: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5486&start=15

it is also on the Wiki.

Why is there such need to scrap all that work and start theorising from scratch here?

the text snippets are haikus, not a coherent story, but they do need ordering if you want to put in some effort on that? Smile
