Yep, the PM's definitely have some kahonies for going near the cycle tracks in Edinburgh. Though the cycle track was waaay too narrow to drive a car down, so not entirely sure how it got there... must have just fallen out of the sky I reckon.

Oh bugger and I have to go back to replace the shard tomorrow night, I'll take the girlfriend along for protection, she's handy with a tree branch.

Sure. You probably already know and use this trick, but if someone else has done something that I want to do here at UF, like embedding a video, I find a post where this has been done using the search function, then go to the post, click on the "Quote" button that lets you include that person's post at the top of yours in your reply, and then analyze what they've done. That's how I figured this one out.

I've been thinking that I might write a UF posting markup guide. Of course, I haven't searched here to see if there is one--I often find that if I have a good idea, someone else already had it and has implemented it--but if there isn't one, I'm going to create one and put it somewhere in our game and link it to our useful game info sticky.

I was thinking I might change the name of the sticky to something like that, and use the current name as the subject description. If anyone actually cares about what I name it, let me know.

Currently, I'm probably using that thing more than anybody else, but I'll be adding a few tiny things here and there. I actually am editing it right now. I'm going to change the date on it every time I add something, I think. If it gets too unwieldy, I'll see about breaking it up into more ungainly chunks.

Sorry. I get EVEN MORE verbose at night.

Minor edit: I just HAD to change "let's" to "lets." Major pet peeve, in my own stuff at least. Hey, I'm not only a former runner up in my junior high spelling bee, I've worked in publishing for over ten years. (Not as an editor, true, but even the techies doing typesetting, layout, and prepress without any background in language would EVENTUALLY recognize the proper use of an apostrophe.)

See, I told you I get more verbose at night.

That car cracked me up, too! Excellent shot. I think cars like that just somehow grow there. Maybe someone lost a matchbox car a few years ago....

So we're up to, what, 3 shards now? I suppose 3/16 isn't going to give us the biggest clue.

EDIT: Okay, about these other shards. There are no locations listed for them. Do you think it's possible that we are supposed to find clues to their locations?

It seems like we have three possibilities here:

1. The rest of the shards are not intended to be found, and we are to solve the puzzles with what we have.

2. The rest of the shard locations will be posted at a later date. Perhaps they have not hidden them yet, for example.

3. The rest of the shard locations are things we are supposed to find ourselves, based on clues we have been given.

4. There is no number 4!

Hi guys,

I'm back from the Isle of Wight, and finally caught up on all the geocaching goodness. Congrats to Nitefoll, Carmen and Russell - good to see Russell's familiar face again after the last expedition to Bristol, eh Geisters?

HP have accepted me into the research program, so I should be getting a TravelMate to do the MScapes on soon - I'm also planning a possible trip to get some of the remaining Bristol-area caches when myself and Thunderwolf travel down to do the Harmonise game by Licorice too. Details aren't finalised yet though.

Speculation Incoming

Well my two cents. This game I believe will probably be over shortly after we find the phrase. The main purpose of this game as i see it was to introduce a central website for geocaching and note keeping that people could use in the future if they wished as a tool. I believe therefore that until we find a few more shards they probably wont release the last few shards coordinates.

If it was me, being a keen geocacher myself (and bearing in mind that I was one of the people who suggested they incorporate geocaching into their next game in the Geist survey) I'd have clues to the remaining shards hidden within existing ones as a multi-cache.

One shard gets you to the initial set of clues, which includes details on how to find another shard close by - and so on. Though I'm thinking they've probably gone for the "delay to play" route as you suggested.

Could you redirect your posts, pretty please?
We now have two speculation threads

carmenmiranda, could you repost your speculation about why we haven't been given all of the shard locations to the new thread [SKY][SPEC] Speculations on the Shards? I think that this may get a lot of traffic, so if you could just leave a link to the post in your orignal post and move the main text to the shards spec thread, that will help keep us from clogging this up.

Russell_k and Jediwannabe: Could you each redirect your posts about the length of the game to the new spec thread [SKY][META][SPEC] All speculations about how Sky is run? I think that this topic will also get a lot of replies.

I was going to put them both under one heading, but I realized that it would probably get confusing, knowing who is replying to whom.

I'd at least do the repost for you, but I'm already late for an appointment.

I hope you all don't mind me setting things up like this. I'm not trying to be a busybody, or trying to be in charge. I just get confused when we've got several questions going at once, because inevitably, someone responds and doesn't quote the text to which they're responding, and then I'm scratching my head like Scooby Doo and going , "Huh?"

Shard 9 Returned

.

OK folks, I've now returned Shard 9 where I found it, apologies for the delay, but I've been hellishly busy over the past few days.

I've also attached better pictures of the Blair Witch hide thing that was close to the location of Shard 9 from my video. It can be seen from the cycle path (almost) but only if you're really looking for it.

Good Luck.

That looks like the kind of 'stick shelters' we get our campers to make during one of our nature sessions at summer camp! They learn about animal habitats and then try to build their own that they might live in....haha

So then, when Carmen and I went up to Bristol the Pm's lent us two Ipaqs for testing the gps and stoof.

They also gave us an early release copy of the next mscape =)

This one is called water as we know. The general premise is the same as the first with a central location and moving round the circles surrounding it. This time though you have to match elements together.

Anyway after a hell of a lot of running around in circles I did finally complete it Surprised

sooo Mscape 2 = (Drum roll please!)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
HIJKLMNO

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Which as Carmen had to point out to me is a bad pun of H2O

I got my iPaq yesterday, which also had two MScapes on it - the first one I tried is "Tree-Updated" - but I must admit, after 20 minutes spent just trying to get past calibration, I got frustrated and gave up.

Hey, if I can survive a day of running around forced to hold your hand because we shared the same colour of name-badge, I'm pretty sure I'll survive a game of Harmonize with you on my team Wink

Thunderwolf isn't confirmed for that yet, but my obliging girlfriend wants to come with me. That should make a full team of four.

When were you planning on going? The Sunday is probably going to be best for me, since I'm going to Alton Towers on the Monday, and I can find accomodation with friends at a half-way point.
