Did writer Drew Goddard... ever make an appearance on any of the DVD's special features AT ALL? No interview/s? I don't remember seeing him in any of them.

Good point, I never saw him. Mostly Reeves. Kinda sucks because I'm really sick of JJ gettin the credit for this whole thing. And he's become this popular culture icon now, but for what? Alias sucked, I'm sure he's not the main writer or creative mind on Lost (not a fan, but I get why people like it), and I don't know exactly how much effort he really put into this movie, but I'd imagine it's a lot less than Drew or Matt. If he's doing one thing right, he's financing the right projects at the right time. That certainly does not make him a mastermind though.

1) Alias did not suck (I'm not a fan but it was very popular)
2) he is, for the most part, THE creative mind behind Lost.
3) he may not be a mastermind but he is the head Producer. Sometimes writers or directors get the most recognition, and sometimes Producers get the most. Depends on who is producing.... Abrams is a bigger name (by default) so he's going to get the recognition

So does this explain why Drew Goddard seemed to feel a little bit betrayed by all the viral marketing stuff since it deviated a lot from his original story for the movie?
I remember him mentioning in one of his interviews about the viral stuff that "JJ might have a different say for this" implying that he and JJ have different views on how the storytelling was supposed to be.

I was choked when I watched all the special features and Drew was not on them. People should take the time to listen to the interview with Drew, it was very long but very interesting. The link is below

There are a few Drew Goddard quotes in the Cloverfield Production notes:

Ok, that wasn't fair. I'm sure a lot of people love Alias, and as much as I don't, I can't see the appeal like I can see with Lost. But I'm not into a lot of that type of TV, so I'm not the right person to give an unbias opinion.
I only mention my grievances because everyone's goin to JJ for answers and it seems like he has less of a clue than anyone else directly involved with the story. When Matt or Drew are asked something they can't answer they're more inclined to raise an eyebrow and keep everyone wondering. JJ just spits out whatever's on his mind at the time.
I dunno. Though, getting back to to the point of this thread, I would have liked to hear from Drew on the DVD.

So does anyone know what is actually going on behind the scenes with regards to the storytelling for cloverfield? does this explain why there are too many loose ends on both the viral and the movie? Was it because of all the tension going on on the writing process? Who knows. But that'll suck

That's not really accurate. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof (the "head" writer) are the main creative minds behind Lost. Drew Goddard is more of a writer, and JJ Abrams really isn't involved very much anymore.
