Puzzle Experiment #4
Happy Mother's Day!

Today, on Mother's Day, we should remember and cherish those that mean the most to us, especially our mothers. So this week, instead of solving puzzles, I think everyone at Unfiction should take some time away from the forums, get off of their computers, go outside, and spend some time with their families!

In an effort to be more active with my own family, I went and bought my mom a nice Mother's Day card. On the inside, I invited her to dinner at her favorite restaurant, all expenses paid. I haven't seen my mother for a month, so it'll be nice to spend the evening with her. Very Happy

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I am banging my head repeatedly trying to get worm heads and owies to balance. They just won't! There's something wrong here, be it with the puzzle or my brain.

ETA: my thinking is as follows:
There are 6 positive worm heads total (3, 1, 1 and 1) , of which we need 5. So we definitely need the 3 worm heads, and two of the 1s. There are two basic ways to do this:

1. Take the fewest owies possible with the worm heads
We can take only 4 owies, if we include those from the 3-worm-head item. Now we can easily get -4 owies, but to do that, we need to take both -2 owies items, which gets us -1 worm head. To get back that worm head, we need to take 2 more owies, which we can't get rid of.

2. Take both sets of 2 owies with the worm heads
This way we have 5 owies total, which we can get rid of with all of the negative owies... but that gives us -1 worm head, leaving us with 4. To get that worm head back, we need to take an owie with it, which we can't get rid of.

So... is this really a puzzle or I'm just too bored?
Anyway, I'm down to -2 owies (whatever they may be) which I don't know how to get rid of. Here's my recipe for a monster mom:
1 silver necklace
3 assorrted cakes
1 gift card holder
4 picture frames
1 calliope vase
1 flower basket
1 carnations
1 godiva chocolate

now add a mom and 2 owies, and you get a monster mom!

PD: it's not mother's day in my country. we have it fixed for the first sunday in may, so it was last week.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about.

I've seen the rest of the site, ( http://cheapgiftsformom.exofire.net/ ) and I see the spiders and owies and stuff, but I don't know what you mean by 'balancing' anything or whatnot.

If you want other people to follow along with what you're doing, it helps to clarify what's going on, please.

When you look at the products, they all have properties. Some of which are negative values.

That said, I really feel like there's an error in the puzzle.
The easiest way to explain that is to say that there's no way you can use the Jewelry box (There aren't enough negative values in all the other items to offset the eight owies in its properties. But in order to get a total of eight Cat Tails, you need to order a Jewelry box.

Edit: Not paying enough attention. Technizard is way ahead of the curve on that point.

I just realised something that I don't have time to work on right now. Why not order more than 1 of the same item? Would probably fix most of the problems, though add another layer of complexity.

IF there is a puzzle in there, wich is something I'm not really sure, some of us have thought you have to make a selection of items with enough attributes as to make that "monster mom" recipe in that webpage.

@Agent Lex: I thought of that too, as you can see in my first try at a shopping list... but it's difficult too, because when you are finishing you find yourself with one of the "ingredients" imbalanced, and you have to touch everything again to try to balance them all...

I'm guessing we're to guess the password based on the dates 1806-1802 BC...

ETA: Googling for 1802 BC comes up with this thread as the 5th result. Haha!

ETA 2: Reigned 1806-1802 BC. I'd say we have a match. I'm-a try sending that as the password, since it matches so well. Also, the guy's name seems to be Egyptian, which gives another hint to this.
