aight... there's too many threads covering this (some of it my fault). i'm sticking to this one, as it seems the most complete so far.
** edited: No, we're not going to start new threads to discuss info that is already in existing threads. In fact, I'm merging a whole bunch of them into one, because I'm personally tired of having to moderate 17 threads that talk about the same friggin thing. -- jamesi

At least we have another connection to halo. Possibly even Master Chief, since he's probably the only Spartan alive, and the only Spartan who can take on tons of covie bastards.
Actually, in the book "First Strike", it is revealed that several more spartans are alive. They travel with Halsey underneath the surface of Reach, with the Covenant in hot pursuit. They are then rescued by Master Chief, and assist in the destruction of 95% of the Covenant fleet enroute to destroy Earth.

The Master Chief isn't the only Spartan alive at the end of First Strike.
MC, Will, Fred, Linda, and Kelly all survived.
Edit: Guess I shoulda refreshed, lmao.

Yes I think this is from the Phase 1 stuff.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
*Sorry about the "only being one spartan left". I only read up to The Flood. Which I thought sucked so I never bough First Strike althought it was from the same author who made the excellent Fall Of Reach.*
-Cheers.

Sorry if this is trout, but it seems to me that Myth of the Comatas writing is the Pious Flea
Quote:
To this end, I have also managed to escape from the Spider.
Isn't it the white on white writing of the flea that is always evading the spider?
Quote:

Isn't it the flea that always writes about seeking the truth?
What if the flea is more intelligent and important than we give it credit for?
Just some speculation...

I think it is definitely "the operator".
Quote:
The Castaway had some connection there: sending out signals to confuse the enemy. Details unclear.
As far as I know she is the only one that has knowledge of the castaway. It is possible that the flea could have gathered information on him, but I just see too much connecting this message to the operator.

but why would the operator be escaping from the spider? The spider was working to rebuild her

My understanding is that the spider is working to rebuild her, but he is destroying vital parts of her memory, as well. Or something like that.
This stuff is really hard to keep up with. So many different threads and puzzles and speculations....

But the spider was getting rid of memories she felt were important.

She never really seemed to like the spider in the first place, and now it seems she is getting to a point where she is more powerful. And now it seems she has a new servant anyways.

Simple conclusions for my simple mind. I think the line...
Quote:
Of course, it is not my mission to confuse the enemy. It is my mission to reveal the truth
is evidence of the Pious Flea gaining influence over the Queen. This idea also shows up in...
Quote:
There is the Queen!
Quick he leaps onto her throne
A new friend, says queen.
and here...
Quote:
Queen's new counselor
seek evade reveal resist
Whispers in her ear.
Which is from some text embedded in pictures. More of the haiku's can be found here.
Thus, the Queen may be motivated to destroy or shut down the SPDR because of the influence the Pious Flea gains over the vulnerable Queen.
Not the most stunningly original bit of spec. I know, but I haven't seen it put quite this way anywhere else. Course, considering the awesome volume of postage, I could've easily missed it. Still, it answers some of the questions on this thread.
Thanks for reading,
Luke P.

Metempsychosis Surprised no one's hit on this yet, so I expect some yummy trout, but looked up metempsychotic from the links.htm page. Here's some further info...
As the fragment appears by itself on the links.html page:

And, taken from the Wiki , how it seems to fit into the wider monologue

The word metempsychotic doesn't seem to exist, but the word metempsychosis does. And it means *clears throat*...

Now, I can't quite get my head around why the Operator used that word. The closest I can come to settling on an interpretation is that the word is a heretofore unknown bit of Haloverse minutae, in this case, the process of taking a human mind and using it to create a "smart" AI. Unfortuantely, that bit of speculation is OOG and meta. So, I'm sure others can come up with a better interpretation.
