It's been on my mind that this seems very well funded for something that doesn't have an obvious product attached. The fact that it's getting a geek demographic (no offense intended to geeks... or italians) to look into all these hologram ideas and futuristic user interface ideas, etc. makes me feel that by the end of this we might hear about something along the lines of Microsoft Surface, or something similar... how cool would it be if they were just raising awareness of holographic, haptic interfaces so we are all ready for a release of this kind of technology?!

Also I find it well funny how ALL the resumes are lost (even those that werent sent!) and accompanying the email is the BIGGEST hint ever to just fake your resume with all the info they want you to say... ie. just rework the job descriptions from craigslist or the chef profile from the slow-food email.

I'm not gonna write a chef resume, depending on how much time i have i might apply for another, but i would want to be filled in, well researched, first.

But for those applying for a chef job. Maybe you could talk about Greek food, as the big boss has a greek name, George Poulapakis or whatever (no offense to Greek ppl if I got that wildly wrong :b )

PS. I wonder if we'd get an announcement at the bottom of the holomove site and/or a profile on the website if we get a job.

Oops. Dim-witted me just resent the resume...

Hopes it gets lost again so I can make something up even better. Very Happy

I found this forum and subsequent treasure trove of info after searching for some info on a job posting I came across at my university's career listings website.

Now that I've done some reading...well, I find it rather annoying that an ARG manages to find its way onto my university's job site. I started getting my hopes up because the pay was so high, and I met nearly all of the requirements, but now it seems that this will go absolutely nowhere. Or am I jumping to conclusions?

Here is the job posting, copy-pasted from UC San Diego's career listings.

Yeah, but someone put it on the UCSD job board? That's unreal!

(I got my BA in Biology from UCSD in 1981).

Ah, I didn't realize that this was already seen on a craigslist posting of all places. There's also one for a software developer on the UCSD job listings, paying between $120K-$160K per year. I take it that one's been seen, as well?

Is it certain that this is not a real company that will hire anyone? I'd like to call the career services center at UCSD and mock them for not doing proper research, and have those positions delisted to save students the hassle of submitting their applications.

Well the company's not registered in the State of California Department of Corporations; I checked.

My question: is there an actual game here? I mean, there was that one puzzle, but we have yet to see more. Seems awfully elaborate a setup for... what?

I'm guessing we were/are still in the "recruitment" phase (I wince every time i hear that word cuz of HTH...), and it was a holiday weekend, so if I had to bet, it'd be that things will pick up this week.

Maybe this is a game to promote resume writing services. Ahg. I sent a reply saying that I had sent my resume. Honestly if I have to write one I give.

I was also asked how I solved the puzzle. I told Annie that if you can get the answer to a puzzle on the internet you can also get the method of solving it on the internet. Probably not the right answer but it just seems so obvious to me, I mean not even my sense of TINAG will let me skip past that one.

Hey, out of curiousity, anyone willing to send in a wrong answer? or say they weren't able to solve but would still like the position?

Real briefly here- it was months- MONTHS- before we knew for sure that Tom Tooman was in fact the Jericho ARG. Hell, CBS put out a video online with an obvious "HEY HEY HEY TOOMAN = JERICHO" in it, lol, and we marked it off as fanfic. Regardless- as long as the product tie-in doesn't alter the game, we don't really need to know about it ATM. Keep digging. Smile

I've sent Ms. Goldstein an e-mail, asking about the strange e-mail she mentioned before.

Quote:
Hello Ms. Goldstein,

First of all, I'm sorry for my delayed reply. I was abroad to attend a seminar of Anees Ahmad, you know the famous Optomechanical Engineer. The riddle was kinda easy for someone like me, who really enjoys riddles, looking to the source code was enough to spot that the font sizes are references to the letters.

I didn't sent you any e-mails, so I'm not sure about the e-mail with the "strange code" you mentioned, I just used the application form at holomove.com and applied for Optomechanical Engineering. I may take a look at the mail, if you could forward it back to me.

I'll send you my CV as soon as possible.

With all due respect,

Cagri

I don't think this was posted earlier, but Annie Goldstein also has an account at LinkedIn.

I was looking through Nate's blog, and I noticed that he said that he played Call of Duty 4 on a post here.

I assume he's playing an Xbox 360, since the majority of CoD4 players play on XB. I personally don't have an Xbox (I have PS3 ), but perhaps if someone were email him or something and suggest that he noticed the blog and was looking for someone to play (or whatever pops into your head), we might be able to establish contact that way... If it works, we could establish a connection with him that would not go through his company, a way to talk to him while he is at home (or something). It just seems that it would be "safer" to contact him on his down time.

I sent him this question on myspace
Quote:
I noticed reading your blog on blogspot that you kept up your spirits one day with a little CoD4. Do you still get to play much at the new gig, and what system do you use?

Maybe I can get a conversation going.

Edit: I find it strange that on Annie's LI profile, her company website listed doesn't go to the front page, it goes directly to the job announcement.

Not that strange, after all, she is the senior recruiter for the company.
