I finally heard back from Surer Risk. Anyone want to attend the meeting as my representative???

Dear Justin,

I have reviewed your application to attend the Annual Trustees Meeting of the
Surer Risk Group, and I am pleased to tell you that you have been allocated an
observer's seat. If you cannot attend in person, kindly send the details of
your representative, and we will add the persons name to our guest list.

Not necessarily as your rep, but I'm definitely going to this. Is anyone else planning to/in the area? It'll be rubbish if it's just me! Absolutely no way I'll be able to keep a straight face AND remember to pay attention, etc.

Not sure about Marie-Ange, but I received these in the mail today. Looks like I need to start spreading the word.

I responded to the Fan's post on Violette's forum when it first went up, but it looks like you can PM the admin now.

Invitation

Just got a formal invitation from Surer Risk, which was a .pdf containing agenda, etc. However, when opened as an HTML document, it contained this

Quote:
Dear Jock,Here are the roughs for the Trustees' Meeting briefing document, before some tattooed monkeys in hideous tee-shirts are paid half my children's schoolfees to make it look 'contemporary'. It's the usual nonsense for the press boys of course, nothing you've not seen five times before, and we talked over the meat of the business on Tuesday evening.I know George isn't happy about the trustee situation either. He mentioned something in passing about tendering his resignation and spending more time with his wine cellar, but that's just George's bluster: he's not going to quit and leave us in the lurch. But the fact is that with Kamm and Hayder on the board we're firmly in our onetime-benefactors' pockets. Nobody can claim these two have any experience of a mining or insurance background, and it's ludicrous to claim that they do.I take Tony's point that their experiences with their own companies can – what's that bloody awful word? – synergize with what Surer's all about and help us grow the business, and he assures me their expertise is necessary to get the RRP operation launched, but I don't like it. Dealing in commodities and metals, that's one thing, but running a shipping company? I simply don't see the tie-up. Are they trying to saddle us with useless lumps, to knock us back into debt so they can bail us out again and take 100% control? That's my long-odds bet. George disagrees, he muttered something about stalking horses but wouldn't say more. Something's rotten, anyway, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. RRP's another can of worms. Do you know that neither George nor I have any oversight on that? It's all being run out of Zurich. So I'm giving you fair warning. If anything is going to kick off at the meeting then it's likely to do so at the point where the new trustees are confirmed. I don't know exactly who might start something, and it's all a bit futile if they do, but I wanted to let you know. Forewarned is forearmed and all that. It's such a bloody shame that Peter went and died. If he'd not been such a bloody fool he'd still be here and none of this shambles would be upon us. I miss him almost every day.Anyway, apologies once again for being about to ruin your weekend. I'll see you at the grim trustees' lunch beforehand, and then afterwards for a proper repast in St James.Yours aye,

Presumably hidden beneath the images?

Edit: Didn't Dan mention something about working on docs for the meeting? If so, I wonder why he didn't sign the letter...

Nice find, and yes, that was behind the pictures. You should post this in the IG forum for the Fan to see. But of course, Corrigan can see it there too...

True, but if he wrote it, that's not a problem. And if he didn't he probably knows who did, think we could persuade him to tell us? He's been ignoring my emails...

Couldn't find anything on Kamm/Hayder, shipping companies. (Doesn't help that RRP brings up every site that's selling something!)
