[trailhead?] Bound Stems

Brian Clark said that a friend of his is in this band, and thinks that she might have sent him a trailhead regarding it.

First, their website is http://boundstems.com/.

Second, here's some of the bizarre stuff they mailed Brian. He asked me if I could post it for him. So here it is! I have higher-res versions if needed.

I can say with confidence that the photo was NOT taken anywhere near the Excalibur in Las Vegas.

Here's what I've been able to find so far from the contents presented.
Wally Emerson is a real photographer. (eta: site Created on: 31-Aug-00)
The University of Kansas has an endowment called the Self Fellowship Program. In the center of the photo are Madison Al and Lila Self, (pictured here about half way down the page).
Quote:
Al and Lila Self
"Lila and I hope to inspire students who have a passion for solving the engineering and computer science challenges of the future. We want them to become leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs."
– Al Self, chemical engineering '43, Hinsdale, Ill.

I'm assuming that they are surrounded by the recipients of that scholarship from April 1997, according to the date of the photographer slip. Judging from the cars in the background, the style of clothes and eye wear; it looks as though this photo was taken in 1997.
I was able to find a couple of the students on the web, but it seems too much like a breach of privacy to post information about them at this point.
So far, none of this is in game.
The initials on the Photo/Contact Identification slip RGSPS, might stand for "Research, Graduate Studies, and Public Service".
If this has a trailhead connection to a band, it seems a strange one.

Addie, what does it say on the upper right hand corner of the doco-resize.jpg? I can't make it out.

It says LipmanHearne, which, incidentally, is in ad agency for nonprofits and universities. Universities. Hmm.

A few other things

*One of Lipman Hearne's many clients includes KU.

*The photo was taken in front of Spooner Hall, on the KU campus. (See link to KU virtual tour and some random flickr image.)

*From mog.com, Bound Stems biography:
Quote:
The band's members are Bobby Gallivan (vocals), Dan Fleury (guitar), Dan Radzicki (bass, keys), Evan Sult (drums) (formerly of Harvey Danger), and Janie Porche (multi-intrumentalist).

Brian's friend is a she; the only woman in the band is Janie Porche. There happens to be a Janie Porche listed on staff at Lipman Hearne as an Interactive Designer. She also "plays in a local band." (local being Chicago)

I still don't see a Self Fellowship connection.

Geeze, I dunno... is Brian recruiting? Could this have been a creative CV instead of a trailhead? Laughing

Brian said he thought that his friend (who was in his line of business as well as in the band) was definitely savvy enough to run an ARG. I don't think he's recruiting, because he seemed genuinely intrigued (although he is devious, so all bets are off Wink ).
