OK, Wishi did a bang up job, so these are pretty much solved.

Great job, whishi-san!

As per my previous post, I've tried finding decent satellite images to confirm there isn't an island there.
Here's the link (i've left it untiny as you can alter the address to any coords you may want to see.)

http://www.terraserver.com/imagery/image_gx.asp?cpx=-122.2588&cpy=33.8669&res=1000&provider_id=350

Anyone live near there? Surprised

The PM's have fixed a bug.

It now reads 37.8669 -122.2588 on the links page.
"<ColinMacleod> which is in Berkeley" just south of Cal Berkeley

just to make this more clear, this is the one that was in the ocean, and there is no longer any in the ocean. I'm just re-itterating this because someone posted after sapagoo mentioning the ocean coordinate.

Now I guess the only question is....

What do we do with them?

Distances

Started gathering the distances between the two if they are paired. Couldn't really see a correlation though. Here are the first 19 in miles/nautical miles/km.
242/390/210
496/431/798
404/351/650
57/50/92
148/129/238
407/354/655
262/227/421
380/330/612
1/1/2
561/487/902
42/37/68
516/448/830
209/182/336
187/163/301
966/840/1555
1581/1374/2544
1032/897/1660
3/2/4
0/0/0

After that I couldn't see any pattern, so I quit. I would think it has some relevance since Dana's blog pointed to a site which can map point to point coordinates.

Great Job, Wishi!

But what does it mean? Where's the "Answer"?

I live in Seattle, and I'd like to visit the coordinates here, but I can't get the gps programs that were linked on the first page to work. Any ideas?

edit: nm, just saw wishi's document.

ok... please forgive me if i'm trouting, but there's FOURTEEN pages in this thread... has anyone thought of this:

take the 2 coordinates in the set (columns), draw a line between them, find the middle point..... use THAT as the coord of what we need?

Or draw lines between the two coords to see if that makes any thing?

I have updated the map with the corrected point. I have also increased the resolution and changed the mapping symbol. This might make it easier to use for some of you.

I'm trying to see if I can easily connect the dots to see if we have "ordered pairs" here. I did add the numbers to a few of these and they don't seem to be numbered in any geographical order.[/url]

Quote:
Potomac Mills - as gohoos said, the northern point in the Potomac Mills map is on a street, near a traffic light - parking lots on all sides; nearest stores are Walmart/Sams Club on one side (50+ yards away - big parking lots) and the main Potomac Mills mall building on the other side equally far away - not sure what stores are inside the closest entrance there. No phone, no library, no chinese restaurant.

Not sure if you can find this out specifically, but since you had this muc detailed information, do you know if there are any cameras in sight at this point? Maybe a camera on the traffic lights themselves?

X marks the spot

Could the coordinates mark Wi-Fi Hotspots? Anyone care to bring their centrino equipped laptop to onw of those locations?

I think the ones "out in the middle of nowhere" might be more interesting ... in the cities there's more likely a lot of stuff in those locations. If we can get good info on the more remote locations what we're looking for might be more obvious.
