A few things, the blatent DVD OUT MAY 22nd references annoyed me but you gotta plug the product.

Second did anyone else notice the many refernces to "Grumpy" on "Car Radio"? Im not saying its aimed at UF members but still made me get a lil giddy


Third interesting how it said "Monsters Attack" as in plural. But I guess thats IGN part (I'm not hear to start a whole is there two monsters debate (THERES ONE GODDAMIT!))

And Last but not least the production seemed myspace advert banner quality like, I wasn't expecting like a full blown movie yada but the chai(?) videos were much better quality and they were part of the viral not the advertising market.

But, I did like it so Im not all mister grumpy pants, geddit, that was my lame attempt at comedy if you didnt catch that

i love it!. like the guy in the subway train, when the camera looks down at the news paper, it says "japanese oil rig destroyed". that's just great. then the parasites attack! too priceless.

if it's IG, then we could confirm multiple monsters. NOT multiple monsters in NYC, but multiple ones nonetheless. the news reporter says that "6 hours ago" seismic tremours began in NY, and have now been felt all over the world. there's no way in hell clover made it to australia in six hours.

Those videos are really, really bad.
I don't know who made them in a desire to promote the DVD release, but they didn't even use the original roar sounds. They had those up on the "When Cloverfield Hit" contest site, so I don't know why or how anyone Paramount sanctioned couldn't get them. There's an awful lot of fire in the explosions too.
This looks like something done by the local distributors, or a vendor of DVDs.

ETA: In light of the fact they didn't use even the right sounds and the 'parasites' are pretty much amorphous grey globs, don't take this as canon. The news videos on the DVD are better quality than this, and those were made fairly crudely compared to the film itself.

but we can't expect the same production values if the creators of the ARG are solely keeping this going for the fans.

seems a little ridiculous for this to be solely promotional.

now, there's two tagruato stations off the coast of australia. none near sydney, unfortunately. the itoku station is way off the coast of darwin, and the sujin station is way off the coast of perth.

i was hoping one would be off the coast of sydney, but not so.

one interesting thing of note, in re-analyzing the interactive drilling stations map on tagruato.jp..... at least 6 of the drilling stations are positioned above a deep-sea ocean trench....

Keep in mind this is a Paramount property, and the viral is only there to serve the marketing value of the Cloverfield brand. This is in no way just being done 'for the sake of the viral community'. No ARG/viral campaign company is going to decide to do what they want to sustain 'the game' without Paramount's blessings. If you think Paramount doesn't want to protect their property, ask a couple of site owners about how they protect it.

The news videos I mentioned were done with official resources (sounds, Tagruato logos), and these videos are not. It's pretty clear to me this is just vendor type promotion. Something our definitely IG resources have never done is refer to real world Cloverfield things in a real world sense - like referring to Cloverfield DVDs.

SlushoRoar, i would hate it if that were the case... hahaha. maybe i'm being a little bit nostalgic, but i'm hoping this could be IG.

how friggin awesome would it be if the sequel came out, only to show that a half dozen of these things woke up at the same time, and devastated major countries? if this IS in-game, the implications are awesome.

6 hours isn't enough time to get from NY to sydney. what if each station located at a major trench found one of these things. and something occured to simultaneously piss them off, and BAM. worldwide monster attack. way too cool.

i know i sound too much like an overly-speculative newbie, but i'm just excited, hahaha. this has been the first piece of anything that we've gotten in more than a week.
