[SPEC] Parrasites need dark? I used search and couldn't find anything so trout me if it's been done before.
Do the parrasites need the dark to survive? I was just thinking because they live on the sea bed and from what I know about the sea bed ala finding nemo its pre-ty damn dark down there.
Also they are down in the subway and also in beths apartment.
I can only think of two things to de-bunk this though add more or agree if you dis-agree/agree.
They realised "Hey were getting shot at lets find somewhere to hide/hunt in"
or
I'm guessing they use sound to hunt rather then sight since on the USGX pictures only one seems to realise there is a sub.
or
both.

Hmmm. I wouldn't personally say they use sound to hunt, seeing as they seem to have like 6 or 8 eyes.
The darkness theory is interesting though.

personally i wouldnt assume that they need the dark to survive. The only reason i have for saying this, is because of when clover scratched his back and the parasites flew off and started attacking the military element on the street. It was a well lit up street, and especially with all the destruction and the gun firing there, i would say it was extremely well lit, and the parasites were doing an impressive amount of destruction in a well lit area. I mean, once again this is just my opinion, and that is the only information i have founding my opinion, so i could be wrong.

I agree with u, maybe they just ended up there while traveling through the streets above.

It was already stated that the parasites are an evolutionary element of clover. The way you gotta look at it is like this: Clover allows the parasites to feed off of him but as soon as he begins to be attacked he scratches them off for protection. it's a sybiotic relationship. Clover lets them live on him but when he needs them for a front line defense they are scratched off... Imagine stepping on a beehive the swarm is so big and contains such small attacks that running and flailing your arms is the only thing you can do. Clovers getting attacked by groundfire from little ants but so many little army dudes blasting he needs some one on one attackers...

I wouldn't say the parasites need dark, but they definitely have an edge hunting in the dark and could have just ventured into the subway tunnels and buildings at random after falling off of Clover.

If you notice on the DVD right before the rats start coming... There is a fairly loud crash I think thats clover/military blasting the street open allowing the parasites to crawl in. Up until you hear that crash the rats are not running. Check the DVD they all turn around and say "What was that?"

In the production notes it states the parasites have a voracious binding nature. Like a pack of rabid dogs. They are fine sucking off of Clover not running off. But Clover knows to scratch them off, as soon as they fall they are like waawaawaawaalaalaa laa waa which is translated to: "OKIE DOKIE, wheres the nearest thing I can latch on to.." watch the video the second they hit the ground it's like they wake up and go nuts attacking...

Dark is the absence of light, and you can't really 'need' a negative. They may have some aversion to light, as they seem to come from a very dark environs. In scientific terms they would be negatively phototropic, except that they didn't run from light. They seemed to be able to see well in the dark, and used it to their advantage, but that could just be instinct.

This is a very sound statement. I would say that the dark definitely gives them an advantage in hunting/feeding.
What I want to know is if they walk as fast underwater or if they swim somehow, a kin to say shrimp or lobster.

doubtful that they'd move THAT fast, but considering they are aquatic, and at amazing depths, that would explain why they're so damn fast on land.
i would say the dark is an advantage as well. they do have a bunch of eyes, but honestly, they don't look very well developed. they look like spider eyes. and at best, spiders can mainly sense light and dark. certain species like jumping spiders have the two, large, binocular eyes that can see to an extent, but even they mainly rely on vibrations.
one of the other great mysteries that only folks like us would pour over

I cant really trout you, but we did talk about echolocation with the parasites on the USGX thread.
We brought it up because it didn't seem like the parasites were reacting much to the subs because of perhaps blindness or something. It definitely helps give purpose to the churps.

I like this angle. Echolocation like a bat. They both seem to thrive in a dark environment. They both seem to use sound to "see". They both run in packs, so to speak. Although, i'm not totally convinced that the parasites rely on echolocation alone.

What i want to know is why the parasites were just kinda chillin on the ceiling until rob turned on the night vision. I mean, you have to imagine they're running towards the slusho7 (hence the rats), they come upon them, and then they decide to take a nap upside down until the night vision comes on? Seems kinda weird.
Almost as weird as a huge monster running down main street.
