[BLOG]Kai on Ariadne's blog "Turn a Bad Guy into a Good Guy"

Ok, I don't know what's going on with this, because I can see this new blog post in my RSS feed of Ariadne's blog, but not on the actual blog page at the moment. However, in that RSS feed, I see a video of Kai asking for help from people in San Francisco.

Text of the entry:
Quote:
Contact me on facebook (I go by Kaitown) if you're willing to help. This won't be easy. It won't be pretty. We have to steal from Theo's own playbook. It will go down here in San Francisco.

We'll need at least six volunteers, one with each strength.

But to be honest, everyone will need a little thumos to pull this off.

P.S. James, if you're reading this, I'm just following your lead. You wrote to a friend of mind that only a weak opposition hides from the other side. Well, I know Team Agonothetai is already stronger in 2008 than you've ever seen before. So we don't have to hide.

Transcription of the video:
Quote:
Look, I know I've given you no reason to trust me...but...James is not the guy I thought he was--but we can fix this. James is not a bad guy! Somewhere, in some world, he is a good guy. We just have to help that bad guy align with the good guy! It won't be easy, and it won't be nice. I have a plan, and...I'll need people in San Francisco to help...people with a lot of Thumos. If you're brave enough, in one night, we can change James. We can make him follow a different path. He won't like it, but...we have to do it.

I sent him a message on facebook and got a response:

Quote:
Hi Tiffany,

I'm glad you're willing to help.

We need six volunteers minimum for this mission. More could be useful.

I have noticed that every day at 6:30 PM James leaves his office to make phone calls on the roof of the building where he works. He refuses to make these calls while anyone else is around, and the roof is usually empty by that hour.

I believe we can use this pattern to our advantage. We can confront James on the roof, create a personal labyrinth, and force him to align with his parallel selves.

I admit there is some danger in undertaking this mission. We could inadvertently inspire other parallel James to align with this James, creating more parallel bad James instead of converting this one. I look to you for a strategy to prevent that from happening,

Sofia will create a personal labyrinth at the mission site and come prepared with as much background information about TheO as possible.
Thumos will help me seize and restrain James.
Chariton will get into James' head and convince him that if he's right, he has nothing to fear by walking the personal labyrinth.
Dikaiosune will oversee the interrogation once we've started to weaken James with the labyrinths.
Sophrosune will make sure it doesn't get out of hand.
Mythopoeia will document it to make sure we have a record of any information we gain.

I will help confront James and guard the location so you can do your work uninterrupted.

We should do this as soon as we can command a team of six, to prevent James from catching wind of the plan.

Please advise me as soon as possible who is available for the mission, and which strength they will represent, and which evenings they are available.

Thanks for your help.

-Kai

It sounds intense! Especially the Thumos role: 'seize and restrain James.' Someone bring the rope, yeah? Surprised

Well, who's in, and when are you free? I'm basically out of commission until next Wednesday night because of finals, but I'd understand if you guys can and want to do it earlier!

Wow. I am in...

Oh, unfortunately Germany is too far away from SF in this Gaea world Sad

I think this sounds crazy. It sounds fun. . . but why would it work? Synchronization by force? That's the kind of thing that makes it sound like TheO will turn out to be the right side.

I think the force is just to keep him held long enough for the chariton to do his/her job...from this quote, I think the personal labyrinth itself isn't to be done by force:

Quote:

Chariton will get into James' head and convince him that if he's right, he has nothing to fear by walking the personal labyrinth.

but I could be wrong Wink.

By the way, I am currently jealous of any of you who live in SF and will be able to do this!

I wonder, why Kai is posting this plan in plain sight. I would assume that Theo is monitoring the blogs. So James should already be warned!

Well, he doesn't post the details of the plan in plain sight, just the fact that he has a plan. The details come only through an e-mail after you contact Kai on Facebook. As for why he posts in plain sight that he has a plan, see Kai's P.S. in the first post above.

It also must also somehow let James' parallel selves know. It's kind of a heads up to them because our bad guy James will have some circular thought patterns in his head as he goes around wondering what Kai is up to. Maybe the good Jameses be on alert to synchronize too.

I hope it's less than four years since bad James and good James branched.

God freaking DAMMIT, why the heck does every thing have to take place in San Fransico?
I WANT TO SEIZE AND RESTRAIN JAMES Evil or Very Mad
/me sulks.

Jk. Still, it seems kinda unfair that there's no way for the rest of us to participate. Maybe James' other selves will arrive in the Gaea world and appear in other locations to rescue him?
/me crosses fingers

Ok, I'll bring the black ski masks and completely nondescript van!

We are kidnapping James in the dead of night.....right?

The only thing I'm still worried about about this entire thing is why should we trust Kai? I mean, he seems to be one of our only leads right now, but there have been misgivings from him in the past.

I'm worried about that too, but I'm following this philosophy right now: If they say they are the "good guys", I'll believe them. So Kai is good, James is bad. Razz

From a meta point of view, I think making all the lead characters be double agents wouldn't be good for the game. This game is complex, but I think we can trust that when one says they're good, they are indeed. Else, the players would be lost in paranoia and the game wouldn't move on.

People we know are in the Bay Area so far, listed by their first strength:

Chariton: hmrpita
Mythopeia: Cineball, DavFlamerock
Sofia: Ariock, RangerD
Sophrosune: momonga

We'll need to find at least one each of Thumos and Dikaiosune (the more the merrier though, of course). Do Kai or JMG count as Dikaiosune? Razz Either way, is there anyone else who wants to join in? You just have to be willing to bust your butt to get to SF, I guess!

Another important question: what evenings (6:30PM) are you guys free and willing to come out to SF?
