whether or not these videos are amazingly produced, just think about it. we have news footage of the monster attacking australia. what we should be worried about is whether or not this IS in-game, or whether it's just promotional. it would seem VERY stupid to me if it was only promotional. don't get me wrong, y'all... i FULLY agree that these videos look like horse-shit, and the special effects are on par with my avatar, but still. the content is what i'm thinking about.

i'm not trying to bitch anyone out, or start any arguments, i'm just saying. let's put our heads together on this, instead of being all flustered about the quality of the videos.


This is pure speculation bro, but im kinda thinkin that these vids are strictly promotional for Aussies. I mean, if they were IG, how would they play into the game, u know what i mean? Unless the movie thats being released in Aus is a different variation of the film altogether, made by JJ strictly for the overseas people, i gotta be lead to think that all this is gona do is remind the aussies that Cloverfield comes out on May 22. But on another note, the whole event in the US in the actual movie happens on May 22-23 doesn't it? What if the Australia movie release was pushed all the hell the way to May means something?? What if this IS a completely different movie altogether, or we get some type of new info thats gonna blow our freakin minds? now THAT would be awesome...

pure speculation on my end is coming out now too, man.

okay, i've always argued two points. we've all argued them at some point, i think.

A) fuck the dates; it's may when the film is recorded, and 1-18-08 is around the time the camera was retrieved.

B) giving in to the other camp, yes, it IS true that the next time may 23rd falls on a saturday is in 2009.

so, say this is meant to be taking place a year from now. i know the viral contradicts it, but just suppose that is the case. the aussie videos could have some significance then. the lady in the news broadcast says something about "tremors" being felt in NY six hours before her broadcast, and had since been felt worldwide. this could just be another tidbit.

meaning, they could've purposely made the movie be in the future, so they can keep releasing viral stuff along the way, and be able to have it make sense.

imagine this being a worldwide phenomenon! certain tagruato stations just have these captive beasts, and BAM, one day they wake up! NY gets creamed, japan gets creamed (manga), australia gets creamed, and who knows where else? there will be cream everywhere!!! Shocked

The timeline is trashed by a lack of coordination and fact checking.
The promotional efforts have repeatedly introduced non-canon content into the landscape, screwing horribly with many people's sense of continuity and IG/OOG separation.

aaannyway I think it is just for the Australian release and acts as a promotion for it. If J.J. or the people who's working on the ARG wanted them to tie in wouldn't they make it more obvious to the actual game?

 		Just ads for the DVD release in Australia. Just like the revamp of the ARG and cloverfieldfiles.com for the US DVD release. Not bad, not great. Nothing however furthering the ARG storyline.

 		Assuming this is part of the ARG, that would mean there are multiple monsters. 6 hours after the NY earthquake MGP was still rampaging there.

1) Clover
2) Parasites

That's it. IGN was right in their labeling of the videos, and we were right in concluding there is only one big monster.

 		Eh, most likely not part of the "canon". Aside from having Clover (or something like him) attack Sidney, there's not much here. Looks like some very cute but very low budget ads thrown together to drum up sales.

If we believed every ad was canon, Zilla would be a Dorito eating fiend instead of a fish munching lizard Wink

I gave up on "gaming" Cloverfield a long time ago, and now I just enjoy the ride. When they toss us a bit of "canon", it's great, but it's safer now just to look at clips like this and get a chuckle.

that was the first thing i noticed when i watched that video.

kind of an odd name to choose don't ya think?

i doubt it has anything to do with The Slip but it's cool to wonder....

Maybe some of us do buy into that, did you ever think of that... Did you? Tell me how do they get all that big cheese flavor into a cheese it? I'll tell you, its going to be shown in the next Zilla movie, they have him steep on the cheese and it smashes it into the cracker. All the cheese steeping-on gives him the taste for cheese, but in his contract he can't eat the cheese its so he has to find an alternative source.
