Maybe some of us do buy into that, did you ever think of that... Did you? Tell me how do they get all that big cheese flavor into a cheese it? I'll tell you, its going to be shown in the next Zilla movie, they have him steep on the cheese and it smashes it into the cracker. All the cheese steeping-on gives him the taste for cheese, but in his contract he can't eat the cheese its so he has to find an alternative source.

Doritos.

The Doritos give him powers, depending on what type they are.

So watch what you say man, really watch, or I will get a Dorito eating monstrosity to eat the cool ranch and come after you. you don't even want to know what the cool ranch does...

Viva la zilla doriturs fink! Mad

I don't know about you guys, but I'd be pissed if these videos were all I got for marketing in Australia. I mean come on, they're craptastic!

It's like the people at Paramount are saying to the Aussie that they're not good enough for good marketing and the correct monster representation and sound.

I'd be pissed

That's it, 23, that number is everywhere, it's destiny. (?)

Just a thought...

I think there would have to be more monsters... In production notes, JJ Abrams says that it's a baby (and recently he said the monster was destroyed by the bombs in the end). I think the manga isn't actual story (accept for the Tagruato/Slusho/Cult - might be Tidowave and that sphere thing might be in their possession from that attack they did on Ganu Yoshida when they dumped water on him as a diversion), but clues. I think the monster was chained up under Chuai Station (like the manga had near Japan). And the whole Alpha Kappa Mu clue from the trailer suggests the monster is a giant kappa (Japanese water demon -- kind of looks like one anyway but has a tail) and from the sunken lost continents (monster was found near Atlantis). If there is a monster going to attack Australia, then that would be Lemuria (and that Sunga Anemone is found on Lemuria that has almost become extinct because of Tagruato, maybe that is clue as to what the sea nectar is). Japan's would be Mu. This beast has to have a mother and father after all...

Also, if it's been asleep for thousands of years, maybe it bulked up on the sea nectar before and that's why it is so big (and almost indestructible) and the parasites are so big too. Maybe Slusho has to be served cold so the eggs don't hatch before ingestion. Maybe the parasites that do form from eating it warm, are tiny versions for humans.

Just speculation... I'm new to the game and this is my first post. Please correct me if any of my info doesn't go with any clues I may not have seen yet. Smile

First off, Welcome to UF, congratulations on admitting you have a problem, just like the rest of us -- admitting it is half the battle Wink Second, yeah, thats accurate, as far as the Clovey being a baby thing- we've had that mapped out as factual for a while now, but i wont troutcha cuz your new and new people deserve a freebie at least once, lol. But yeah, i gotta say that your theory is a pretty damn good one. Where the hell have you been all this time?? you seem pretty caught up with the whole deal, where have you been posting at, or getting your facts from??

Thanks!

Thanks! This seems like a nice board. I posted a couple comments in the passed two days on the cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com site. But I was debunked about the ganuyoshida.com site (that's a fake joke site set up by Harvard Lampoon based on the Alpha Kappa Mu clue in the trailer. They told some guy that the movie was based on a secret book. That is not true apparently). I got my real clues (and the theory I posted here) from the actual viral sites 01-18-08.com, jamieandteddy.com, slusho.jp, and the tagruato.jp site. Also the tidowave.com site. And the translated Cloverfield Kinshin manga. And from piecing together a lot of comments and clues on the cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com site. I just started getting into this a few weeks ago after watching the movie for the first time. I wanted to know what the monster was and where it came from and googled and found out about the game.

Oh, and that Rollingstones article that's on the cloverfieldclues site was the clue about the monster being dead.

Tidowave talks about undersea sounds (that satellite at the end of the movie may have awakened the monster). Tidowave, after the Chuai station attack, then plays that prank on Ganu as a diversion to take something from him (obvious). So that's why I think they were in control of the monster. They knew it was after that Norwegian tanker that I think is full of sea nectar. There are clues that there is no oil under Chuai station at all too from tidowave.

Tidowave talks about sunda anemone being almost extinct. Wikipedia says something about NY being the anemone capital of the world. Anemone have regenerative capabilities and are a fauna on the bottom of the sea. I think that is what sea nectar is related to or might be because of that clue.

I think Teddy is alive. You see him on the bridge scene in the movie. Maybe he escaped the Chuai Station attack (there were people on a helicopter). He's in hiding I think. I'd like to take a look at the credits closer and see the actor's name and get a better picture of him. That was obviously deliberate to show him. They showed Jamie too. Why would they do that if it's not part of the game?

Okay, I'm getting carried away. LOL I think I'm addicted! It's like Slusho here!

Edit: Just had a thought! Remember how there were supposedly Tidowave members located/spying on the Chuai station during the attack? Maybe they had control of the Norwegian Oil Tanker or took control of it after the attack! And they directed the monster TO NY with the tanker (because Ganu is there too) and thought it was a perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. If they are that cult in the manga, then they want to destroy big polluting cities too after all. If the tanker was not used to direct the monster (if they have control of it, then they wouldn't need the nectar to get it there), then they may have just used the tanker to escape Chuai Station and then used the sphere thingy to get the monster to follow. Just a theory... If Australia is being attacked, is that monster being controlled too, or just pissed because it's baby is dead?

I don't think Paramount made these, at all. I think they were made by someone else, likely some distributor in Australia. I can't see why Paramount wouldn't use their own accurate source material in promotional items they create - like they did with the Chuai Station news videos.

Take it as the Aussie distributor doing a craptastic job, and basically using social emulation to try to be 'as good as Americans' by copying our story as if it were their own. That's cheesy to me, because that just suggests that they think of themselves as second-rate to Americans - instead of peers.

I could be wrong, but i never saw anywhere where it said the monster was a baby. I saw that it ACTED like a baby, which is why it stumbled around. It's land legs weren't strong enough yet.
And abrams never really said that the monster died by the bombs at the end of the movie. His answer was VERY ambiguous.

Welcome to the boards.

References

I found the production notes on the web. They were on the cloverfieldclues site too. Go to the references of this wikipedia site to actually download them.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield_(creature)

Abrams described the creature as a "baby" who has been underwater for thousands of years that emerges "confused, disoriented, and irritable".

And the Rollingstones article, I thought, was right to the point.

"RS: But based on photos on the Website, it looks like the monster eventually gets killed by the army. JJ: Yes, he's dead. Ultimately the bombs kill him."

But I could be wrong.

I think maybe this is an Australian spoof of all the When Cloverfield Hit American made videos.

Like, it was big news when some Aussie reporters said, "and today in the news, we have this funny little American site..."

Aussies checked out the site, it became big news back in Australia, and someone is like trying to create their cheap Sydney versions of this in order to sell more dvds.

I feel that both answers are very ambiguous.
He says that clover is a baby, but then almost within the same sentence says that he's been down there for thousands of years. Before he states this, though, he says that this is why the thing is clumsy as hell. To me, that sounds like he's brand new on land, but definitely not brand new overall.
As for the article, he says that clover ultimately died. He never says it was by the bombs presented in the movie. Obviously, the military is going to keep dropping shit on him until he's finally down for the count. Whether that's shortly after the movie or a few years after the events we see in the movie is unknown.

aaannyway I think it is just for the Australian release and acts as a promotion for it. If J.J. or the people who's working on the ARG wanted them to tie in wouldn't they make it more obvious to the actual game?

that was the first thing i noticed when i watched that video.

kind of an odd name to choose don't ya think?

i doubt it has anything to do with The Slip but it's cool to wonder....
But The Slip is obviously about the Election, with NIN going political since AWTIHA_TEETHA.
